HELP! Tmart Sent Me a Totally Different Flashlight. What Do I Do?

HELP! Tmart Sent Me the Wrong Flashight. What Do I Do?

I ordered an UltraFire 980L from Tmart and they sent me something totally different. The battery tube does say “CREE XM-L T6” on one side and “HWAWYS UltraFire WF-980L” on the other – and that’s where the similarities end. The Crown is different; the Head is different; the Reflector is different; the Star is different; the Battery Tube is different; the End Cap is different (it’s black); the Threads are different and so on. I didn’t want to take the switch or the front end apart but I’m sure they’re different as well. It’s substantially longer than the real UF 980L as well. By the way, the Star was mangled; O-rings were missing, different or broken, etc.

WHAT DO I DO?
DOES ANYONE HAVE A TELEPHONE NUMBER FOR Tmart?
DO WE HAVE A CONTACT THERE. (I thought I remember a thread where they said they were “deeply sorry” for past transgressions.)

Contact Louis Huang, the BLF rep and he’ll get you straightened out.

Thanks very much JohnnyMac. I know many of you have faced similar experiences but it’s very frustrating and I really appreciate your help.

In addition, contact Sherry Ye also, she is a customer service rep at Tmart.

I hope everything works out fine. Can imagine the anticlimax and frustration. Recieving something not on par with your expectations.

Just a suggestion, KumaBear, but maybe you should change the thread title until you've given them a chance to respond? I know Tmart has had a bad rep in the past, but they seem to have done right by BLF over the last few months. Perhaps give them a chance to correct the issue through CS before calling them out?

I agree. In fact I violated one of my own rules – and that is NOT to send out any emails or make any phone calls when I’m still very upset. I tend to overreact and regret doing so later. It’s OK to write a draft indicating how upset I am but my “rule” dictates that I “sit on it” for a few hours or a day before I lash out.

Thank you guys for suggesting that I edit. I hope I did it correctly.

Regards,
Bob

No harm no foul. I have the same rule at work with emails. It's saved my arse on more than one occasion. Smile

They did the same thing to me and I couldn’t file an RMA. I see no problem with the post as it is good to inform potential buyers of this bait and switch incident.

At least they didn't tie it to a string and drag it on the sidewalk for a couple of blocks before shipping.  (like they did with my "new" HD2010)  It's okay though, it would have looked like this in 2 or 3 years anyway . . . .

@KumaBear:
Can you take a picture of the wrong light and post it here in the thread?

Thanks for posting that photo edc. (I have to get a camera working.) I can’t see the extended silver crown that mine has and I can’t see the very rear end of the flashlight in your photo but what I can see looks pretty much exactly like what they sent me. What is that?
Best Regards,
Bob

Even more reason to “avoid.” I think the rating system is a great idea – assuming one’s smart enough to listen!

My name is indy, and I've been a flashaholic since 2004.

Im not going thru the entire thread but im hoping you gave Tmart a fair opportunity to respond? I had a bit
of a problem and Sherry handled the issue in double quick time, very professional.

If the the thread title is indeed accurate shoot me a PM i’ll certainly got to bat for a fellow BLF mate.

Otherwise consider rewording perhaps

Tmart is well known for their bait & switch tactics.

They've done it to me, and they tried really hard to rip me off.

I was lucky, as Paypal saved me at the last minute.

+1 I dont see anything wrong with this thread either, given how many folks over here have had problems with Tmart.
They sent me wrong SK68, it took a while and some uproar from other members who got the wrong light over here to make them do full refunds without too many questions asked.

I'd rather know about a complaint about a company  and more importantly about a bad light someone is selling .

You owe it to us enough to tell the truth about a light no matter who's fault it is ..if it's a junk then let us know to avoid it .

If tmart is worried about it's reputation ...they know what to do.

Please let me clarify..eh hem..

I agree 101% with the post if you feel you gave them an opportunity to make things right and they didnt. And i’ll even go to bat for you and make a stink, cancelo my order. I stand by that now, later, good or bad personal experience. And i have no past experince with Tmart, Racoon my man knows a heck more than i regarding vendors history around these parts.. I made a purchase Yesterday and i more or less
made a small mistake and asked Tmart to modify my order. Sherry must have emailed me 5-7 times to confirm and make sure the order was corrected. Putting the issue on blast “before” they have a chance to repspond appropritatly IMHO imay delay the process. If this isnt the case and your getting the cold shoulder i sure would like to know..

Racoon / Foy & Gentleman – Question here is in context, i think. – Many of the vendors we frequent i assume have a decent track records? No fly buy nights im hoping? Before checking prices , registering, etc i check other members posts. If i see a slew of recent negative or just bad feedback/posts, that’s good enough for me. Sometimes i dont see recent activity but i can always search a few months or 1 year prior and it seems like many or most vendors all have a period of dishonest business. Most cases 1 recent negative and i typically keep it moving, on to another vendor. How do you navigate these dark waters on nothing more than a promise to send your goods in return for your USD? Seems like its alwats been hit or miss , keep in mind im relatively new to souring from the far east.
Most important is how do you address a vendor sending you a flashlight that was used by an employees infant son as a rattler? While mom who utilized Foys light as a personal boy toy? Lubed threads were one of the
review pro’s…

Just kidding Foy. Does the battery tube smell like coconut body lotion? btw
Yes, im actually buying one based on that very review. Question is from who?

Boaz-I think we see eye to eye..
Thanks

Update; Tmart don’t have a UF980 so substituted it with a wf980. Make of that what you will. Returning mine via post is not an option so I have accepted a gift card. Would rather had a UF980. Sherry sorted it out for me.

I too got switched to the wf980 Ultrafire for $21.00,but I am not feeling ripped off.It has a nice heavy polished steel head,a heavy feeling body and is the same one they sell for $31.00 on the t-mart site. The shipping was only eight days and it works fine with performance similar to the typical XML C8 light.

DarkSide -

As odd as it may seem, while I do admit being a flashlight whackjob, someone selling me a torch would have to screw up epic before I become unhinged.  You mess up my $6,500 order from Summit Racing, it's lawyers and a sawed-off.  Foy becomes your worst nightmare. We're talking about here is a goldarn flashlight.

I understand completely from whom I order and fully accept the possibility gettin' cornh . . . . ummm, not being treated properly.  It has some scratches on it.  They bother me and I'm blessed with audience occasionally.  But, it is just a flashlight and the rest of it is awesome so, I'm not going to demand a replacement.  I'll just turn the mic on, complain indignantly for a minute or two (never straying from the facts) and then it's . . . . "youguyshavebeengreatthankyouverymuch."

It's not a failed kidney transplant so, if all goes according to Foy, Foy gives praise to the man.  If not, I pile on with the rest of the dogs and maybe someone like you can make a more informed decision.

Thank you everyone for your help and support! It’s very comforting to receive your support and it’s very helpful to receive your advice. The email I plan to send Tmart (in the next few minutes) follows and I would appreciate any suggestions that you might have regarding changes I should make.
____________________________________________

Hello Tmart,

Please reference the following order:
Order Number: 21534434 Date: 06/13/2012

We have a big problem.

I ordered an UltaFire UF 980L and you sent me a defective WF 980l. It is a totally different flashlight. I have confirmed this with several members of my group at the BudgetLightForum.com

Please refund the $21 to my PayPal Account by July 9 or I will have to file a Dispute with my Credit Card Company.

By the way, the Star was broken; O-rings were missing, different or broken, etc.

I sent private messages to Louis Huang and to Sherry Ye at the BudgetLightForum.com but I have not received a response from either of them.

Also note that other members of the BudgetLightForum.com have told me that they will back me up in this. They have said that in the event that you do not make this situation right, it will adversely effect whether they do business with you or not.

Here is a copy of my order:
http://www.tmart.com/users/account_history.html

Here is a copy of my order with Tracking History:
https://www.tmart.com/users/account_history_info.html?track_order=ra4241...

Here is a photo of the same flashlight that you sent me (it’s from another BudgetLightforum member):

(edc’s photo of the WF 980 will appear here. His name will not be used.)

Here are photos of the real UF 980L from your website:

(Multiple photos from the Tmart website will appear here.)

Please refund the $21 to my PayPal Account by July 9 or I will have to file a Dispute with my Credit Card Company.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
Robert Bund

Kumar keep me posted. I did send Sherry an email yesterday and waiting for a response.
If we have to DK a package to make a point we will

Foy – Unless that there order over at Summit just happens to be the same im waiting on for 2 -3 week now, Roush Performance RED402I..That fine light we were poking fun has some priceless qualities, IMHO. I for one would like to
make a bid for it? I will not turn my back on it for a set of polished faux hub caps.

Looks good, Kumabear. Good luck with it and keep us posted. I am surprised you have not heard back from Louis after two recent well-participated BLF group buys from Tmart.

My one and only experiance with their sustomer service department was when we all ordered G4's  last year and they shipped cheap c-8's instead ...they were helpful ,,,spoke english ,and tried to work out a reasonable agreement ..i bought 3 and they discounted them about 3$ or the cost of shipping etc and I agreed ..Not a perfect solution ...but it's not a perfect world either . They were prompt ,attentive and reasonable ..Some people weren't happy ,Some people got different terms of settlement ..I was satisfied and came away thinking they were efficient, communicated well and reasonable ....In the land of one legged men  that's not too bad .
