Bike light(s)

DELETED

For my bike setup i have a trustfire tr-j18 flashlight and a fenix bike flashlight mount. The j18 well illuminate everything in front of you at 50 yards extremly well. It only puts out about 2000 lumens. The fenix mount works good with the j18.

I use two Rayovac Indestructable 2xAA.

P.S. Is it typical for people to want so many lumens on a bike light? Maybe it’s because I use my bike as a commuter in the city (and thus there is a lot of ambient light), but I just can’t see the need for so many lumens.

Regardless of price point, the two you have listed are some of the best torches for cycling, bar none. Lots of happy owners here on BLF. XinTD might have a slight edge with 3 modes. A cycling buddy has the RC-T602 and it is a fantastic light. Both are high quality lights that should hold up very well.

Yeah I guess I can understand that. It’s much better to have too many than not enough, that’s for sure!

Romisen is listed as ordinary waterproof or water resistant, which means ok in a light rain, but don't drop it in a puddle. Another to consider is:

i just purchase this i thought i would share it with u. theres 5$ coupon on ur first purchase. this torch really is normally 70-85$ by it self.

consider another 15$ u can have decent torch 3x the brightness ? get a bike mount for it 5$ off ebay.

Honestly don't know. The 601 is more of a classic C8 size/style.

Definitely would. Best combo for me is one OP reflector for flood on the bar, one SMO reflector on the other side or on the helmet for throw. But my night riding is mostly road or trail, nothing technical. Take a look at some 26650 options as well, nice run time. Shadow JM07 is my favorite riding light.

Like Between rides my favourite single cell format is the JM07 pro, it has good throw as well as a good wide corona, and as it has an OP reflector the hotspot is much wider at distance and better for illiminating things like potholes compared to the more spotty C8 style flashlights.

Or if you’re interested in a 2 cell format, the Trustfire TR-3T6 provides an even better quality of light, with a corona that will light the entire width of the road and plenty of throw, and IMO it’s not too big and fits really well with most budget mounts. Although the extra lumens in high mode comes at the expense of runtime, perhaps just over an hour on good cells.

I would suggest something like the Ultrafire HD2011 for a close up flood beam, the thing is a pocket rocket of bright light that provides a nice wall of light. Used in combination with a more throwy light it’s night riding heaven.

Anyone use lights with different beam patterns? Like perhaps one for flood and one for throw?

As I mentioned above, I use two Rayovac Indestructable 2xAA on my bike. I currently use diffusion film on each light in order to achieve a really nice flood, but I’m considering taking the film off of one of lights in order to have a bit more throw to accompany the flood.
