The Dino one is pretty good, the body is pretty much the same as the $43 Manafont one, nicely made and real stainless bezels.
It doesn’t have the same 3 mode driver with memory though. You get the usually 5 modes with blinks and starts on high. Slightly different reflector, spot is a little smaller, but colour tint and brightness is comparable with the Manafont one. I like the UF 980L, its my favourite torch, and this one is a great buy for the price.

Hey SashiX, I can’t see any noticeable PWM unless I wave my fingers in front of it and then it is barely noticeable on low.
Sorry, measuring tail cap current is a waste of time with the el-cheapo cells I have
Next time I have my soldering iron hot I will get a pic of the driver, it is NOT the same as the Manafont 3 mode one, that one has UtraFire branded on the driver itself and is very distinctive.
On the + side, I just realised this driver DOES have mode memory
The machining on the body is slightly different from the Manafont one, enough that I would now call it a clone/copy rather than another version. Still, it is a very nice torch and I don’t consider it much inferior the Manafont one.
You can get even cheaper ones from ebay From Here for about $16-17 but they have alloy bezels and no mode memory. Machining closer to the original. Good value for money though, but I like the stainless bezels better.
The machining difference is small, on the head end of the battery tube the Dino one has a parallel wall section, the original and ebay ones are slightly tapered. It’s hardly noticeable unless you compare them side by side.
The knurling on the ebay ones is nice and clean, the last couple or turns on my Dino one, next to the switch, look like they overlap slightly. Not very noticeable, but it’s there. I didn’t see it before.
The threads are really well cut and parts fit well on ALL of them. Parts are interchangeable on all torches. (so far)
I think the ano on the Dino one is better than the ebay ones, I ordered two of those and one has a few shiny dots where the ano is damaged
i was thinking of purchasing a 980 l myself.
are the ones on ebay hot spot the same size as the manafonts?
tmart has a 980l also. any reviews on that?
Ebay and Dino ones have about the same size hot spot, both are a bit smaller than the original Manafont one. Dino one is similar brightness and tint, ebay ones a little whiter tint and not quite as bright. Also not quite as even spread of light in the hotspot as the top two.
They are all decent lights, but I have never regretted spending $43 on the original from Manafont. It it broke or I lost it, I would get another one. I feel nekid if I leave the house without it.
TMart one is the wrong light, avoid.
