Welcome aboard Bradimire, once you get more than three XML that u might as well jump too the 7 XML that FX suggested. Otherwise youll end up wondering if you should have bought the bigger badder light. Saves you from buying both if your anything like me :wink:

X100! Only 79 bucks shipped now. It might come down a little to maybe 65 in a 2-3 months though, but if you want the max output with longevity in battery + run time which is limited by heat if you are in a hot environment, this is it.

I’ll try to measure what is the output of the light in 2 cells in series (do up 1 dummy cell with the PVC sleeve), it is possibly 3800 lumens OTF.

So no $20 KD driver mod is needed, not that much of a diff in reality. (coz the KD driver kicks down after 20s or so)

The X100 is really great value and is pretty great for all purpose use. It throws decently, and floods like crazy, you can think of it as a semi-thrower, and all the spill is usable till about 100 meters out, depending on what you’re using it for.
The only con is that it’s pretty huge, but if you can deal with that then I say go for the X100

J18 is basically a J12. Very nearly the same output, but more efficient.

You could put the KD 7-LED 20 bucks driver into it though, and have crazy output for the smallest light.

The guys purposely made the X100 threads to be different from the J12 and other variants from Uniquefire/Marsfire etc!

X100 is just what I need,but it is a bit large…

Now,how dificult is changeing the driver on tr-j18 and how much x100 is brighter.

Where to buy lights in general now,I heard of many fakes.

I own tr-3t6,some xml bike lights and King with no problems.

Not really, some even said that it is a wee bit dimmer.

I’d really recommend the X100, less hassle coz of nothing to mod, and you’d find the bigger size to be handier and better for longer runs at decent temperatures. Throws more etc….

I am not unfamilar with hotrod pocket rockets. I have 4pcs of the famous DRY triple XM-Ls. :smiley:

BTW, don’t worry too much about anything that is less than 20% in output, your eyes would not be able to register it in real life.

I’m facing the same dilemma as the OP in the regard, but I’m thinking the following:

Buy the TR-J18 (or the UniqueFire clone) as I’ll be using it with 18650 cells for the time being since I can’t afford the upgrade to the 26650s right now. Once I have purchased a set of 26650s for use with the light, I’ll purchase the upgrade driver from KD. This way, I’ll still have a light that’s still a LOT brighter than any light I currently have, but I will have the option to radically improve it further once I can purchase the high-capacity cells and the new driver.
