Re-using modem batts?

Firstly, If I’ve stuffed up the photos, please forgive a luddite.

I have 2 sets of back-up batts from an Optus high speed modem (Australia).

I don’t use them as the modem is hooked to a UPS. I’m guessing from the size they are 3 × 18650’s in the case.

The back says Pegatron Model PB 013. 10.95V/2600Mah, 28Wh Would it be possible to rig an adaptor cable from a Magic Shine type bike light cable to the pin for this casing.

Since I have 2 sets, I can recharge by putting them back into the modem

Welcome to BLF!

Here your pictures are.

Which magicshine light do you have? Different ones run off of different voltages.

i don’t have any type of dedicated bike light as of yet.
Only began thinking about it when I rediscovered the batteries, and wondered if I could use them for something.
Any information or ideas are most welcome.

The easiest way to do it would probably be to take it apart and just use the individual cells in your lights.

Most MagicShine lights use either 2S2P or 2S3P battery packs, both types are 7.4V nominal, and 8.4V off-the-charger. So I wouldn’t use 10.94V nominal / 12.6V off-the-charger pack with them, their driver circuits might not be designed for voltages that high.

I decided to take your advice scaru.
(After reading Shadowww’s post, I realised I would be in way over my head.)

Have pulled them out and this is what I have.

A few further questions if I may:
What is the best (and safest) way to remove the tabs?
Am I correct to assume they would be unprotected? They are a good 3mm shorter than my Trustfire flames.
I have a Trustfire TR-001 charger - will it be ok with these batts, or should I get something better?

I guess I’m a little edgy about unprotected batts since I’m a noob to all this.
Many thanks for any help

Tear them off with your hands. They are unprotected.

Yep, those are unprotected. I find it easier to use a pair of pliers to tear off the tabs. My personal method is to sit outside next to an ammo can full of sand and a fire extinguisher while I first clip all the wires and then I tear off the tabs.

From what I can tell those cells have a 2600 ma capacity

I have tried using cutting implements but I always seem to get sparks so I just pull them apart with my hands.
