Belated Intorduction and newbie question.

Greetings all,

Due to a recent power outage I just became interested in learning more about flashlights. There is a lot to learn. However it seems like a friendly bunch here, and a good place to get a few answers. I have been lurking for about a month or so and have purchased a clearance Shining Beam Blaze and one of these: CREE XM-L U2 LED Headlamp Zoom Headlight Bicycle Light Flashlight Torch Zoomable

My first question is what should I use to lube the threads? I have white lithium grease and some Vaseline.

Regards,
merk

First, welcome to BLF!

Are you near a Harbor Freight store? If so, pick up some "Super Lube". Fantastic stuff and highly recommended on flashlight threads.

Thanks Garry, Big fan of Harbor Freight. I’ll pick up some Super Lube tonight.

Welcome to BLF merk !

You purchased youself a fine little (maybe not so little) flashlight.

I use a cheap oil suited for small mechanic parts for the threads.
I got no idea what to use for the o-rings though, there are special greases for this kind of stuff.
Maybe you should take a look in the automotive corner in your near supermarket and buy something that is used for care of wether strips on your car ?

Welcome to blf.

Welcome to BLF, rmerkov!

Welcome to the family, rrmerkov!

Welcome.

Not a huge deal but a petroleum based lube like Vaseline isn't best for rubber o-rings. I used to use Nextorch silicone grease but now I'm trying Jetbeam silicone grease. Big change like that might seem risky but Foy is willing to take one for the team.

Welcome to the forum Merk. I use silicon grease for o-rings available for dive and camera equipment.
