Another one of these lights that can be had for a dime a dozen on ebay. I bought it from cyberport888 and got it after five days, which is extremely awesome.
The light itself isn't. But it's dirt cheap and it works, so maybe someone has a use for it. I think it would perform great in your grandma's kitchen drawer.
The LED is yet again a generic chinese one, exactly like in the mini-C8 I recently showed.
The current draw is 500 mA, but it isn't much brighter than its AAA cousin (this one here, second from the left) which draws 300 mA. My guess is something like 15 lumens.
The plastic pill slides out and reveals what looks like a simple boost circuit.
Room for modifications? Probably not worth the effort.
FAIL: the body tube is too slim for eneloops. Other rechargeables or alkalines fit fine. I didn't even know eneloops were bigger...
