I’m going to buy four Protected 14500 batteries. What is the best Protected 14500 battery? Where’s a good place to buy from?
Dave, By my reading, AW’s are generally very highly regarded. They are available from at least 2 dealers on the CPF marketplace. Here is one:
“AW Li-Ion & IMR Batteries Sales Thread USA & international. ”:
Lighthound also has them.

I have three different kinds and the Trustfire Flames that look like this are the best that I own. http://www.diytrade.com/china/pd/5988037/TrustFire_TF14500_900mAh_3_7V_Protected_li-ion_Battery_ID_2063.html
They are better than the Ultrafire grays and blue trustfires. Don’t know about any other brand first hand. I am happy with the flames but here there are fakes so be careful.
I got my Trustfire flames from Manafont .
They work well .
All of my TrustFire flames (14500 and 18650 cells) are from DinoDirect, and they're great.
But I bought them a while ago, and DD currently sells fakes. In the future, I would only get them from Manafont because I think they're the only place that always sells originals.
+1 on Trustfire flames. They haven't let me down yet.
These are the best: http://www.intl-outdoor.com/2-pcs-sanyo-ur14500p-840mah-protected-battery-p-467.html
Check out the high voltages on these:
