Yesterday I found some graphite lube at the Walmart auto parts section. Assuming that it’s not fake and in the automotive section, is it possibly a good flashlight lube? It’s a generic 10ml bottle for $1.64
I don't know about other qualities, but graphite's conductivity is not desirable for use in flashlight. A little too much lubes where it doesn't belong, and you'll start seeing erratic blinkings/shortings etc.
Non-toxic, synthetic, clear, doesn’t smell one iota, goes on clean, protects, etc. You can get a big tube of it at Pep Boys Auto, or just about anywhere like it. Harbor Freight even has it. And it’s cheep. Should last you about a million lights.
And here’s what the tube looks like……

Btw, this stuff is also impervious to salt water. Ya never know.
graphite is also very messy and marks clothing, I would not recommend it. inox is good.
Graphite can corrode aluminium.
I think it may be conductive under certain conditions. Stick with anything that’s good for rubber.
when working on my car, I use red rubber grease or a tube of pagid cera tec which is good upto 1000C, non conductive, no acids/copper/metals… don’t know if its overkill or applicable to flashlights though.
Lumatic, thanks for the tip. This stuff looks good. Heading for Harbor Freight later.
