Please advise - DMM (local source)

Hello All!

Looking to take some measurements of current draw in my lights and am looking for a suggestion on a decent, under $30ish DMM available from a local store. Do they exist? I have access to lowes, menards, true value, radio shack, home depot and harbor freight.

Thanks to anyone w/ suggestions!

My recommendation would be the Ideal 61-312. It's 35 dollars. I got mine at lowes and I love it. Autoranging and it comes with a thermocouple.

If you have any questions about it tell me.

Cullen, hit up Walmart for an Equus 3320 Innova Auto Ranging Digital Multimeter for $25.90. Best bargain you can get locally.

gentlemen, excellent! Can both models stock leads handle measuring DC amps w/ out modifcation? seems some DMMs need upgraded test wires to keep resistance at bay…

My Equus 3320 is pretty accurate stock. Many of us have it and love it.

Unfortunately my WM did not carry the 3220, nothing of the equus brand in sight.

Even more expensive DMM’s can use better wire leads if you’re measuring over 3 amps or so. It’s pretty easy to just make leads out of thicker wire and banana plugs.

founda unit at Home Depot that does what I need for $20. I was even more psyched when I got it home and found it measured voltage as accurately as my lipo analyses tools and my ichargers. I had been using a DMM that was reading like 4.08V for a freshly charged cell, where my specialised volage checker I use w/ my RC Lipos was reading 4.12.

I did some tail cap measurements by touching the + end to the neg lion battery endand then touching the neg lead to the de-anodized threads on the tail end of the light. I was able to cycle through modes by quickly removing and touching the threads again. On a UF 502B w/ underdriven XM-L of a supposed T6 bin, I got 1.75A on a 3.96V Blue UF 3000mah that came w/ the light. W a new TrustFire 2400 black and red protected, I got 2.1A.

Des all this sound abt right?

What DMM is it? Either way it seems to do fairly well.

Commercial Electric MAS830B

Yeah, seems to do real well…
