C8 SST-90 or SST-50

Hi guys,

I was searching around on hkequipment.net and i saw an C8 with sst-90 here
and a& C8 with sst-50 here
I already ha a C8 with xml-t6, so what do you think guys, is it worth the money or not, because i think it’s underdriven?
and should it be more lumens than my xm-l t6 C8?

Specs say “Working Current:450 - 600mA”. That’d give you 200 lumens at most. I’d say stay away from it, XM-L is perfect for 1*18650 C8 hosts.

but i have a C8 xml-t6 from hkequipment.net here
and there also stands working current 400-650mA but this light is really a beast so maybe the info on the website isn’t correct?

Do you really want to spend 72 dollar’s on a c8 though?

not really, but i’m searching for a flashlight that easily blow my c8 xml-t6 away in lumens, any suggestions?

For that price - Skyray King would be your best choice.

The bin number is very important when considering buying a luminous Sst emitter.
A good Sst 50 is almost as bright as an XML at the same amperage, and only when driven up at 5 amps does it match the XML at 4 amps.
Sst50 is slightly floodier.

Sst90 is much floodier than the XML, with the right heatsinc and driven hard enough (9-13 amps) it’s capable of 1600-2200 lumens.

For something with a similar reflector. I have the FourSevens Maelstrom S12, it has a similar reflector size to your C8 but the hotspot would be three times larger at 30-40 feet, and only 600-700 lumens.
For an sst90 to outperform your XML, expect it to cost $120+ and be of a fair size.
Or it’ll be floody.
I also own ElectroLumens BigBruiser, it runs an sst90 full out as it has an amazing heatsinc but it’s all flood. (I like floody lights ALOT)

For that price get the Trustfire J12 or J18
