I made some LED lights in MR16 format using aluminum shell, xm-l and bridgelux emitters and PT4115 based driver. To have some comparison in real world application I bought cheapest chinese MR16 bulb with 3x1W ww leds and used regular 20w halogen as ultimate role model.
Cree XL-L WW T2 unknown exact color bin, rated at 3500K with 60 degree frosted TIR
Bridgelux ES BXRA-W0402 Q4 color bin (rated at 3045-3220K) with ledil bridget wide reflector
Both cree and bridgelux are driven to produce cca. 200 lm
Below are quick pictures of some magazine cover under different lights taken at 3500K white balance preset.
Please try to guess under which light which was photo taken. Results should be quite interesting and I will elaborate a little bit more about this experiment later…
Thank you for your guess ! I can’t comment it yet but I really want to see if differences are so obvious for other people too. In real differences between those lights are even much more visible. I know that picture of some colorful fruit/vegy taken at exact same position/settings would be better but even with these I expect interesting results.
I see that you have changed your light signature format to something other than text.
The whole point of that discussion was to prevent BLF site searches from returning ALL of your posts when someone was trying to find info here when key words were referenced in your signature.
Perhaps I could convince you to convert your knife collection list to a non-text format too?
Thank you for your contributions, I look forward to reading your posts.
I completely forgot about this topic. But your guesses are spot on.
Honestly I didn’t think it would be this easy to spot difference between halogen and bridgelux. Chinese led and xm-l are on the other hand quite obvious.
