Questions regarding Navy K502, K615 and SRM 763

i wanna ask a few questions b4 ordering.

the screws that hold the pocket clip to the handle, do they go through the metal lining or just the G10 material?

the knives are for EDC, i wanna make sure the clip is really really secure.

also, anyone has the navy K502 and K615? how are they?

i know SRM 763 is good. i have read many good comment about it.

Don’t have those Navy models but have a few other from them. I like Navy and think their designs are the most polished in general. Some are copies like the K-615.

I wouldn’t buy it since you can get the original Bladetech version for just a few dollars more. Why buy a copy if you can get the real deal for a similar price? I have seen the Bladetechs sell for about $20 so there is no reason to buy the Navy knock-off IMHO.

The other Navy K-502 is a compression lock which is the worst lock Spyderco ever invented. Dumb idea when Spyderco sells them and even dumber to copy a poor design. Basically it is a backwards and upside-down liner lock. Very hard to use, slow and unnatural and not as strong as other locks.

I don't have either of those two but I have a few other Navy knives and like them for what they are. The fit and finish on them is usually not as good as an SRM, and of course cannot compare to a Spyderco, but the price doesn't either. I have the Paramilitary and really like the compression lock - it's easier to close than a liner lock because I don't have to turn the knife in my hand to get at the lock. Unless you're in the habit of heavily stressing your knife all the commonly used locks are more than strong enough for every day use. So it mostly comes down to which lock style you prefer. I find my preference changes depending on which one I've been using recently.

thanks for the replies guys. i didn’t know the K615 is a copy of bladetech. i think i will buy the bladetech instead if it’s just a few bucks more. anyone got a link?

how about the screws on the pocket clip of the navy knives or SRM 763 that u guys have? do the screws go all the way into the metal lining ?

i am asking coz i have a Ganzo 704 and i notice that the screws on the pocket clip only go into the G10 material, not the metal part underneath.

every time i pull on the pocket clip i fear that it might come off.

i know i am being very picky, ha ha.

It's a good question. They go into the liner on the 763 and on every other SRM/Land and Enlan knife I have (quite a few). They also go to the liner on a K631 and K607, so I think they probably do on most Navies. They do not enter the liner on either version of the Ganzo 704 that I have.

ok, thanks phonton1k. i am gonna order me some knives now, he he

The navy’s have more tactical look but the steel on them is worse. SRM/Bee/Elan are better to actually use in comparison. Though to be fair, I almost never use mine.
