Is there any budget 2x AA fatty?

Hi, I would like to buy a flashlight for my GF as there are quite often blackouts in a place of her. I would like to buy a small fatty that is using 2xAA or maybe more but side by side not in a row. 2x AA would be ideal as it would be light and should last long enough with two eneloops used. I found some Saiks that are too big, Rook is quite expensive. Beam should be ideally somewhere between flood and throw. Don’t you know if there is something conceptually similar to fenix tk35 with reasonable pricing?

Havent seen one…
Why not getting her decent single AA?

Because of the runtime. I would like it to be as much maintenance-free as possible with no need for charging for a long period of time.

Though, I ordered TrustFire R5-A3 few moments ago. I found it when I was searching suitable light  Most likely I will keep it for me so I’m still searching.

Duracell had 2AA side-by-side light but it uses generic 5mm LED.
Good quality AA light with good modes shouldnt be charged too often, unless you run it 100% for hour or hour and half.

Go for a Cyclone C88 - 3 AAs side-by-side:

It costs same as the Rook, it is quite expensive in my eyes. It also seems to be quite big.

20 hours on 3AA. Put energizer lithium ultimates in it. It will stay charged 15 years and still work

So what's your price and size ceiling? Also, why do you need side-by-side AAs and not series?

The Fenix TK35 that you mention as being too expensive is 164mm long with a 43.64mm diameter. The Cyclone C88 referenced by Chilipepr is 147.5mm long with a 38mm body diameter - i.e. smaller.

At any rate, by expanding your search to 3xAA lights, you might find cheaper lights that *might* fit your size requirements. Of course, they will run even longer at equivalent lumens to most 2xAA lights.

Also, I believe this light is similar to the tk35, it’s $26 but it uses two 18650 cells, not AA like you asked for.

SMALL SUN ZY-T08

This is the only side-by-side 2AA I know of other than the very expensive spark headlight:

That Dorcy is not what I was really searching for but thanks for the tip.

I mentioned the fenix tk35 only for its conception not for its size or batteries used. ZY-T08 is even bigger. I like the Rook really but I wanted something that costs around $15. Size should be as small as possible to hold batteries and led.

That Sipik is interesting but only if it wasn’t using that floating pill zooming and looked prettier. It is pretty close to that description. Thank you.

At the end it seems that I have seen a lot of flashlights but there isn’t any other than Rook that would be suitable. So I think I’ll get nice single AA  If you know about any that suits the description, you can still leave a comment here.
