You do realize that sooner or later............................

you crazy neurotic lumenotics out there that eventually your lux fix is gonna have to come to an end. You know who you are. You junkies. Hooked on lumen weed, or worse. Do anything for another LED-injected high. Addicts, all of ya.

Ya know ya can’t continue to buy every friggin’ torch that comes out even when ya know the one ya just bought is bested 3 days later by a newer and better model. You’re gonna have to let it grate on ya sooner or later and take it like a man even when some yahoo BLF’ers rip apart The Torch ya just got. Dirty bastards. Is it worth it? Learn to resist the pull, I say. Know when the gig’s up. When the emitter’s finally has lost its lustre. Admit that your best reflector days reflecting over another purchase that gets stuffed into those ratty yellow envelopes from Shenzen that ya count every single stinking day to arrive, is fini. It’s over, baby. Do ya see that day comin’?

How can ya still be doing this when your 97? Can ya picture yourself there in your wheelchair, dribbling tapioca pudding on your chest, clutching a TK70 pointing at some barn 350 yards away from your rest home? Is that gonna be reality? Or is this really just a hobby for ya or is it really more some kind of life or death deal, like where ya gotta inhale and exhale to your very last breath.

Something’s gotta give. This has got to come to an end someday. Scary thought, huh? Ya don’t know when it’s gonna end either.

Well, I have a confession to make. I’ve given up. I can’t stop. So I’ve decided to get as much out of my system now as often as possible to help accelerate the inevitable event. Now I just gotta figure out who gets what torch outta the will. That one’s gonna be a b*tch.

 :open_mouth:

We are all addicted to these dang cool looking torches. But I know I do need to get a grip. My wife is praying for me.

You can’t resist not buying more. you’re only getting bored because you’re buying 15 of the same light. You’ve gained too much knowledge and have satisfied your curiosity.
However, mine is insatiable. Since I was young, I’ve always liked handheld lights. I would buy one, be satisfied for a while and then get curious again. This will not end, unless LED technology stops advancing.

When I’m 97, you can bet that I’ll be clutching a TK7000 blasting spaceships down with my 50,000 lumen, 20 million lux flashlight.

One of us...ONE OF US....ONE OF US !

Welcome home, Lumatic; we're happy you found BLF.

I want the silver one, BTW.

Please. You’re too kind. I’m a lumen-idiot compared to a good number of you guys. :open_mouth:

Here’s my prediction. My interest in flashlights will wane at some point. Historically, this has been the case with all my hobbies/interests. But this sort of thing has always been cyclical for me. Nothing ever goes on the back burner permanently. Inevitably something will happen, and that spark of interest will be fanned into flames again. With flashlights, it will almost certainly be the release of progressively more efficient LEDs. I love technology enough that I’ll always want to explore such things.

And sure enough my flashaholism went into remission for a while. But then I saw this: http://intl-outdoor.com/xintd-x3-xml2-3aa-flashlight-p-739.html

I’ve always had a soft spot for high-powered AA lights and this is basically the sort of thing I’ve wanted to see for a long time. In principle, it’s basically this: HD2010, 3xAAs? (close enough to it, anyway).

Can’t wait for my new X3 to arrive.

And so it begins again…

and epic with Lumatic still being stuck on 999 posts! His OP is telling…

When I started (not so long ago), I was into buying lights, left-and-right. However, lately, I’ve been more interested in modding and the different aspects of modding. I’ve now done de-doming, and most recently, done some what I call “mechanical” mods, and also have done my first re-flows. It seems like there’s so much to learn.

I haven’t bought many lights lately, and when I have bought lights, it’s more for buying a light to use a host.

I think that cainn is right, that it is all cyclical. Right now, I’m kind of in-between, thinking about what mod I want to try next, so I haven’t done much except reading (and posting on) BLF, and thinking about what’s next. I’ve been interested in making small triples most recently, and I’ve done several 18650s, and am now thinking/planning on a 14500 triple. I have a host that I want to use, but thinking about what to put into it. With having done reflowing, I now have a wider choice, 3up Luxeon (I have several in hand) or triple XP-E2 or XP-G2 (have the PCB, not the emitters yet), and now that IOS is coming out with their Noctigon triples, I may use one of those.

It may end someday, but even now, it’s cyclical…. thinking time… modding, etc.

i dont have a problem

no really

pay no attention to my signature :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s OK. As long as you can stop whenever you want there’s never a need to stop at all.

Don’t spoil it for me, I’m going through my second childhood, anything to get some LED in my pencil. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s the problem, and I guess is what makes the “-holic” part. Even when I’m not doing something with lights directly, I’m either thinking about them (or modding them) :)!

I Want MORE! I want nigh noon in August in Texas, handheld. I want those around me to need an iced tea when I click Hi. Sunbathers to reach for their oil when I’ve found a new emitter, or 7. I want the city to cut the streetlights on my side of town to save money, knowing full well I’m gonna be lighting up the neighborhood anyway. More!

I want Freon cooled, fan blown behemoth’s that make jaws drop and fellow flashaholics drool like little babies. I want Texas Pyro’s toys! lol

I want … and want… and need… one…more….light……

Someone asked me how many lights I have, I said 28. They said how many do you really need? I said 29.

ROTFL :)!! Esp. the last 2 lines!

Hi, I'm Bob.

And I'm a flashaholic...

:D

:D

I tried taking a picture of all my lights standing side by side and found out how limiting the resolution of my camera is.

When I get to old for flashlights, I’ll start collecting walkers and orthopedic shoes.
