They’re actually kinda cool. Especially with the 3 x ramping up of the white leds and then the single mode red-led which for reading is, well quite useful for preserving night vision.
Since each can is separately controlled you can have a 1 x brightness on the left side, and then a red-led on the right. Then you could have 3 x brightness on both, then ramp down one to 2 x brightness on one can or 1 x on another, then on to only one-mode of brightness red-leds, ya know the possibilities are almost endless here. And they’re decently bright in complete darkness. Quite. And quite decently made even. You can comfortably wrap them around your neck, your arm, your leg, bed post, your whatever, too. I mean the material that bends with a pliable steel rod inside is comfy I must say and reasonably tuff. What can I say?
Why? Why not? H)
For guys on the trail and the hunt, or fishing, or camping, whatever, I can see where these have practicality as long as you don’t get them soaking wet. 8)
For $12.95, ya know I could’ve done worse. A lot worse. Lumatic is pleasantly surprised with this purchase. And here ya thought this was complete buffoonery, a joke. They actually work pretty dam* good. There were only about a dozen or so in a little box at Costco when I picked them up this evening. I imagine these won’t last long for at least cheap stocking-stuffers. Prolly one of those 3 days on the floor and then they’re gone.
Anyhow, to satiate your incredible curiousity I present a pair of HugLites in various states of illumination………these were shot on the lowest white-led setting. They again can go low, medium, high, from the off-position by just pressing the button on each can repeatedly to get them lit individually as you want them. The red-leds have only one-mode of brightness which I would say is the equivalent of about 1 x in the white-led. The red-led setting is low enough to be night-vision preserving useful.
dam* handy when you’re standing there balancing on your bike trying to rummage in a bag, or if it’s really dark out and ya don’t wanna blaze up everything around ya (like wake up the entire camp site), then ya I can see where these could come in on a bike ride. Or for hikers.
They’re so light that you really don’t feel them wrapped around your neck plus like I said the foam material they use is really comfy. I can see all sorts of uses for these things ’cause they really do flex-wrap around stuff very well indeedy. I don’t think these will break anytime soon either from flexing a lot. I’m groking the inner flex-rod in them is pretty sturdy like what you see on those new foam-encased wrap ties for serious bug-out-bag setups.
I mean for $12.95 (you saw what Amazonia wanted for ’em) plus they throw in 4 AAA Duracells, c’mon. I’d get one. Or two. Or three.
In fact I’ll prolly go back to Costco tomorrow and pick up some more for X’mas gifts. Great stocking-stuffers for sure.
I think the amazon one boaz linked do have a red led - the close up shows two LEDs on each side.
but with shipping costs might you as well go w/ costco…if available…
WTH...I just ordered a pair of these from Amazon since I don't have a Costco around me. Only $11.30 shipped for 2 of these. My honey loves to read outside in the evening or in bed and these juglights huglights will keep me entertained watching her read.
JM, please let us know once you receive them. I have a couple night readers that would use these but I’m wondering if they’ll turn out to be ‘genuine’ huglights.
Bah...I just cancelled my order at Amazon. I can use the money for more usable items. Eventually I will grab one if I'm near a Costco visiting family but for now it's more a novelty. I'll hold off until I can get the exact models you bought to ensure I get the same goods.
Note the middle rectangle. That’s the red-led. The other two are white-leds. Boaz’s appear to be 2 x domed-type (TIR’s ?) leds or to that effect. Hard to tell from the pic. These aren’t. These are bare emitters. They have a diffuser lens over them. Note the black strap thingie attached to the right one. They include that so if you’re running, jumping, humping, whatever active with this thing around your neck, you can connect the other can and adjust secure it tighter so it doesn’t move around much. It’s made out of a silicone-type material, and it works. Also note the battery compartment cover on Boaz’s. It’s a clear silicony looking material - or maybe it’s just clear plastic. The Costco one’s have a black foam-type pad material affixed to a solid plastic cover and that clicks into the batt holder.
I think the Costco’s are prolly a safer way to know you’re gettin’ the latest and greatest real JugLights………I mean HugLights.
who by the way shares nothing with my light addiction++found these wraparounds perfect for illuminating her scratch-off lottery tickets.Lord have mercy!
