Can you charge LiPo Battery with LiIon charger?

Hi,

a buddy of mine has a cell phone with a broken USB port, so it won't charge anymore. My plan was to open it up and charge the internal LiPo Battery with my Xtar MP1, so he can at least retrieve his data.

Do you know if it's safe to try that? The Battery in question is this:

Yeah, that should work. Just make sure you hook it up the right way. Or you could just tape wires onto the ends of a 18650 and attach those to the cell phone.
