Anyone else notice the search box at the upper left corner isn't working? I get blank search results. If I then use the magnifying glass icon on the resulting search page I do get results.
I just remembered trying the search last Saturday upon reading this thread and i got empty results too.
But i tried it again just now and everything works just fine (using chrome).
In fact it looks much better than before, i usually used standard google search with “site:budgetlightforum.com” because i didn’t get what i was looking for.
Safari browser, with a completely plain vanilla installation displays the Google search box, and it works.
Opera and Firefox with ghostery and No Scrip do not display the box. Either change your settings to allow the search to work or use the following link to jump directly to the advances search:
It seems that Adblock plugins are the culprit here. Sorry, it’s not by design to force you see the Google Adsense ads I run here on BLF, but I can’t think of any other solution than to disable Adblock at least for all BLF pages that contain: /search* in the URL.
Makes sense as I run Ad-Block plus with Firefox (v.16.0.2, but downloading update as I type). However, I just tried disabling AdBlock plus on this website only and then disabled entirely and it still doesn't work. I get the Google "Advertisement" results at the top, but they are greyed out with no results below them. I just tested using Internet Explorer v.9.0.11 and it works fine.
This isn't a big deal, as I've said above I can click the magnifying glass button on the main search page to get results - it's just an extra step.
I also disabled ADBlock and ghostery, but searchbox isn’t visible on the page. Some says it is there but doesn’t work, in my case there isn’t a searchbox.
I use the site: function to search, as garrybunk, just an extra step, no big deal
You might want to try re-enabling it to see if it still works. The issue with it not working in Firefox before was also happening in clean Firefox installations with no plugins. The issue was the result of a very suprising error in the custom search engine code that Google provided… Not sure how this escaped their QA process.
Great, thanks to everyone for reporting this. I need to remember to always test updates on other browsers. Although I do need help from IE users to test stuff because I use Linux and I don’t have IE installed.
