Another bad Thrunite TN30

Hello there guys.
First of all, sorry for only posting links to my pictures. Haven’t posted pics before, and this post is done on a galaxy note as well.
Anyways. I almost feel a bit ashamed to admit I fell for the christmas deal at the thrunite store, especially after reading about all quality problems many of you have experienced with these deals. However I got a perfect TN31 earlier and thought that these quality issues maybe was not so common after all.
Well today I got my TN30 and Ti combo, after only 5 days. (I ordered the last day of Christmas deal)
Unfortunately I discovered that one emmiter is faulty. It has a physical shape that looks like a tilted rhomboid instead of a square. It also emitts yellow tinted light instead of cold white like the other two healthy ones.
I got some fingerprints on the reflector as well!! Not inside the wells though.
The control ring works but it’s more “floppy” than on my TN31.
I also experienced the famous flicker on lv 5 and 6. However, there is a remedy for that so I dont worry to much about it.
Strangely enough, I don’t see much difference in outout between level 5 and 6 when I use my new panasonic 3100 from intl outdoor. But when I use my old TF flames there is a clear difference? Very strange…
Well wat doyou guys think? I have sent a mail to thrunite and I wait fr response.
Is it difficult to change emitters on the TN30? Was thinking if it’s possible to swap the emitters to the new XML-2. But maybe all emitters are connected to a common copper heatsink which makes this difficult?
This is to bad. I really like the built quality and UI of Thrunite otherwise. I can’t understand how they dare to gamble with their reputation like this?

Bummer. I wouldnt mess with replacing the emitter. You payed for a new, fully functioning TN30 and thats what you should receive. Send it back and have them send you another.

Well, lets hope they stand for their slogan “100% satisfaction guaranteed”
Hopefully they can just send a new head so I don’t have to go and send the faulty one back. The problem is quite obvious to me I mean.

Bad QC and QA.... nice light if everything is matched and working good.

TN loads on Shipping if you bid on the Make Offer button…you will be in for a surprise you won’t like…

Do you mean that TN adds on shipping costs? It says ‘shipping included’ in their homepage… and if so, how much?

No, only in carefully worded offers on Ebay only. It says, Buy Now or Make Offer. If you choose the Make Offer button, in fine print it says “free shipping not included.” Now, that means you are obligated to pay the shipping charges no matter what they are…understand?

I just checked on their website again and clicked on Paypal and on the Shipping details. It says ’Free Shipping Included to Philippines”. Anyway whatever it is thank for the heads up.

Regarding my problem I just got a reply from service at thrunite asking to send a picture or video even though I enclosed the same links as above in first mail.
Maybe there is some restrictions in the chinese internet policy that prohibit them from reading the links to the uploaded images? Had to enclose images directly.I just have to wait now for reply…

Hi there,

I to was disappointed in the lack of feel the support ring gives you.It is just to loose,I know it uses a magnetic function to make the selection and my initial thought was if its so loose then water or dirt could enter the torch.

How can this be fixed, can i do it ,has anyone already done it.

Thank you

I agree, the loose control ring was the first issue I had a problem with. Overall, Thrunite is not up to the build standards as the leaders…Olight, Fenix, Xstar, etc.

I think you’re wrong.

I offered and paid what I offered, the light has been shipped so obviously shipping is included.

I offered 120 US for a TN30, but had included a message with a link, Ebay immediatedly posted a warning after I submitted the offer. I had to re-submit, and this time the offer stated that shipping was not included in the “Make Offer” Damn, I saw it, WTF do you want?

We are just discussing different shipping policies here. Nobody has the last say, including me.

May I know where you ordered it from? Pls keep us updated when you hear from them

I just got my refund for 1 1A an 2 1Cs(1 was a replacement that was worse than the first)
I got these lights at a pretty good price, but 2/5 don’t seem like good odds to me. Will probably steer clear of ThruNite from now on. :frowning:

Whenever I “make an offer” on eBAY I always add a note “includes free shipping.” It works every time!

Starleaf, please let us know how this works out. ThruNite is treated me pretty well in the past, so I’d think they’d do right by you, too.

They have a special sub-forum on CPF and they’re very responsive there in case you have trouble communicating otherwise.

I ordered directly from www.thrunite-store.com
I have got a reply from them and after they looked at my pictures they agree that one emitter is damaged. However, now I am waiting for further instructions how to return it. They found the shipping fee from Sweden to be very high. 27usd just for the head piece. I dont want to return the whole light due to the risk of getting a bad tail cap in return.
So, I am now waiting for an OK from them to return the head part. Hopefully I will soon get a flawless one without fingerprints and with good emitters. Can’t be too sure though;-) I dont have very much confidence in their QC. I keep you updated…

Well today I received a new head part to my TN30. I am now a happy camper
The new head seems to work perfectly so far with no flaws. I had some discussions though with thrunite regarding the return shipping of the old head before they sent a new one. They found the shipping cost too high and suggested that I shuld return the bad head to them by sending it to their soon to be opened store in Germany. That was all ok for me. I have to say that even though their QC might not be top notch, they solved this problem for me in a professional manner. And I am now a proud owner to an excellent flashlight.
The flickering I experienced went away also after tightening the battery carrier.
However, I have discovered a strange thing. If I use my Panasonic 3100 from Intl outdoor, I can’t see any difference in brightness between level 5 and 6. But if I instead use my old trustfire flames there is a quite noticeable difference! I cant explain this, have any other of you experienced this as well?

Glad to hear that the problem was resolved. I polished the battery carrier with some metal polish (flitz) as suggested by another member and that seemed to help with the 5/6 differences.
