Only With USPS

Talk about a stupid mix up, this package was shipped from North Carolina to Mo. It should of been here Monday mind you. Look where it went and still is.

I called the shipper and he has my address on the package correctly.

I told the lady at USPS that someone needs to have their head examined. She agreed. I filed a case # and they should be sending me an explanation to why this happened. She said hopefully I will get it tomorrow.

do you by any chance live in oak creek, MO?! lol

That looks like a glitch. It was received on Friday afternoon. For some reason they are counting the weekend as regular business days. Unless they are counting the weekend because of the holiday schedule, there's no way it should be delivered by the next Monday, not with Priority Mail service. Tuesday or Wednesday is more like it, maybe Thursday. If they were like Amazon, it'd likely get delivered on Wednesday or Thursday.

With priority mail from Shane(protacticalshop.com), I get most of all my packages from him out of FL in exactly 3 days. So 3 days from NC shouldn’t be no big deal. And that’s counting packages mailed on Friday.

But it hasn't been three business days. You wouldn't get a package from Shane in 3 days under the same scenario unless overnight shipping was used. That's what a Monday delivery would have meant. Overnight shipping. It was shipped late in the business day Friday, so this is essentially the second business day that it's been moving. At best it's the third business day, so if you get it today, that's great service. It's not late yet. The only problem I see is that the website told you to expect your package too early.

To compare, under the same scenario, which the same shipping and delivery locations, and same shipment date.

UPS would have delivered today if using 2nd Day Air delivery, which I'm pretty sure is much more expensive than USPS Priority Mail. UPS 3 Day Select, which I believe is more comparable, would deliver on Wednesday.

Actually, Fedex would let me use the 14th. Next week includes Christmas. It won't let me switch to next month either. In any case, they would deliver on Wednesday using 2ndDay delivery. Let's adjust for Christmas and take off a day and call it Tuesday.

So if USPS's Priority Mail service that is allowed up to 3 days to deliver actually delivers today, then it'll equal the 2 day shipping services from UPS and Fedex.

Guys, your missing all the point in this. That package instead of coming towards MO went north of me by 470 miles. It would have at least been here today if not for the stupid mixup.

I think what you’re seeing is hub distribution. WI may not have any direct routings to Mo, so that mail is sent to a HUB where it is routed to MO. I work for Canada Post and US mail is directed toward various distribution Hubs throughout the US. From tracking my own parcels in the US I watch them take all kinds of direction before heading north. If I order a parcel from GA or Carolina it will go south to Miami before it heads north to Canada. WI parcels are probably sent to NC where there are direct routings to MO. To have direct routing from every post office in the US would be a logistical nightmare.

The same has happened to me…

Don’t feel like the Lone Ranger. I had one on way to me in Texas and it went to California…at least yours was closer. LOL

This is probably what happened. Complaints and concerns like this is one of my pet peeves with detailed tracking information. I've had clients call me with the same concern about their overnight packages, often to have their package delivered hours later and on time. It really doesn't matter at all where the package goes on its way to its destination if it gets delivered on time. If it goes around the world 4 times and bounced through Jupiter and still gets delivered on time, then it's not an issue. In any case, Fedex and UPS do the same seemingly silly things, but usually still deliver their packages on time.

Well after filing a case with the USPS, my local post office gave me a call about this. He told me more than likely it was thrown on a truck to WI by mistake. He said he was sorry, but at least he was honest.

When tracking some of my flashlights from China, I have tracked them coming from Beijing, to Los Angeles, then to San Diego, then to New Jersey, then to Sacramento, then to New Mexico, then to Colorado, then finally to Idaho, WTF….

USPS is known to send stuff in a circle before it actually gets to you, lol

No wonder they are broke! How much wasted time, gas, manpower in taking a package for a joyride?

Hey it’s going to be here today.

Congrats!! All that worrying for nothing….

It’s all about HUBS.

That's what happens when you pay too much attention to the routing information. I try to only look at the expected delivery date until the night prior to that expected delivery date. If it's at the local sort facility on the night prior to the expected delivery date, it should be delivered the next day. In this case, it was in the local sort facility lastnight, and is out for delivery right now. It's right on time. The only problem was that it initially showed an incorrect and unrealistic expected delivery date. Now it shows an expected delivery date of today, which is as it should be. For comparison, if this were an Amazon Prime order with a 3 pm start time, this would USPS shipment would have fulfilled their two day delivery promise.

Oak Creek is a big UPS hub in Wisconsin. It’s a suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Almost all my stuff come there before hitting my town if it comes from the south or east. My town is in norwestern WI, much nearer to the Twin Cities than Milwaukee/Madison area. I often get items from ND or UT and they will sometimes run the gambit of coming down from the cities to Oak Creek before coming back up to my town.

Kinda weird for USPS to do this I get it often with UPS. My guess was the truck leaving for the south (St. Lois or Tenn.) was gone so they sent it to another truck going south probably to Ohio or some sort, and ending up being there.
