As a follow up to Glassboys post regarding the SS-7021 I went ahead and bought one and wanted to share my findings.
This light has proven to be full of supprises. I sent an email to the sellar asking if a 14500 would be ok to use his response was yes. I went ahead and installed a freshly charged 14500 I had laying around and was greeted with a nice improvemant over the AA.
Decided to make it my first official mod and was ready to de-solder the Osram from it when I noticed the pill was very close in size to the P60 minus the reflector. Grabbed an old low voltage XRE drop-in, removed the reflector and sure enough it fit but is a little loose. Tightened everything up and bam! 3-modes of cree goodness. Runs great on a AA even better on a 14500 but will need some foil to help manage the heat.
