Best flashlight under $40??

Well my dad’s birthday is coming up in a few weeks and was thinking of getting him a flashlight. What would be the best multipurpose flashlight for about $30-$40 including batteries?

Links would help a bunch.

Thanks in advance.

what battery format 2AA ? do you need long distance , couple guidelines of use would help

As above more info required cell type? Use? Flood? Throw? Size?

A two d mag led is a good choice but you Americans have many more off the shelf Cree led primary options available now. Coast etc springs to mind.

Clearly, and without knowing more, the very best flashlight is an Olight I2 EOS purchased from Shiningbeam for $23.45 after using the “BLFuser” code; or about $26.40 with shipping.

I’m positive we can all agree on this.

Seriously though, really nice light running on common, easily available batteries with three useful modes and will ride along with your dad without being obtrusive.

Unless your dad is into hunting for special batteries and chargers, I’d recommend any Eagletac (check the descriptions) that runs on readily available “AA” alkaline or nimh rechargeables. (LJ is a great dealer and if you want to buy from them you can get 12% off with their promo code.)

Most people don’t want to deal with lithium-ion batteries.

If you don’t mind a little hand work, a Mag XM-L or XP-G2 mod makes for a personalized gift.
