I recently purchased a Trustfire C8 from amazon and I am a night hunter for coyote and raccoons. I was wondering if there is a way to convert this flashlight to a red LED light and if there is a way to make this light brighter. I am an amateur when it comes to kowledge on flashlights and how these LEDs work as far as drivers and the actual led. I would like to convert this light to a red or green light is there a efficient way of doing so? As the other option is to spend $200 on a hunting light such as the XLR250, Wicked Lights W400, Selph Arms VRL-1, or the Hog Light. These are the kind of lights I would Like to match without spending crazy amounts of money as I am on a budget. Any information on how to improve the output or changing the color would be very helpful as these animals don’t like the harsh white light.

The reason I hunt raccoons and coyotes is that it is a blast and also you can make good money when there fur is prime a raccoon is worth up to $25 a pelt and coyotes $20 a pelt. Since I live in the midwest the pelts actually get prime unlike people in texas and other southern states do it just for the thrill. I have looked into it but I’ve read that red lenses take away so many lumens so I’d rather try and switch the led out.
You guys really have no respect for animal life! It just disgusts me you people killing for the fun. If it was for eating, but killing animals for fun or fur should be a criminal act and considered as one. Would you like to be hunted down, or your family, just for your skin? Maybe one day this happen…
SolarStorm it is normal. Because it is part of human nature.
Besides these poor animals human beings killing each other everyday just for the money, mines, oil… etc.

As long as you are using the game, its all good.
The easy way is to simply use color filters. You can buy photography gels and they work pretty good. But if you want dedicated maximum pure color output then it’s gonna take some work.
You can buy high power color led’s from mouser.com
But it won’t be on a star so you’ll have to buy a proper star for it to mount on. Cutter electronics also has various color led’s on stars but as to how different led’s will interact with the reflector in the C8 it’s hard to say.
Generally the Cree XP leds will work with the XM-L relfelector but the XL’s and the XR’s won’t.

It’s gotta be real red light from source if you want bright. That means an emitter swap is necessary.
And when you do that, you definitely need a new current-limiting driver as well. This is especially important since red emitter can have very low Vf, in other word, it will be overdriven if you use standard white XR-E/XM-L linear driver.
Not a very easy task unless you know what you’re doing.

In my book you have no apologies I may be off topic here but my family ans I moved out to the county to raise livestock, poultry etc and I know how destructive coyote bobcats large birds if prey.and recently mountain lions if lefted unchecked.my family went hungry one yeat when ccoyotes skunks etc killed our chickens. My youngest 12 year old son w as attacked by a rabid skunk thank God he had his 22 caliber pistol 1 week later AZ game and fish confirmed it was rabbid. Last year one of our colts was attckex by a mountain lion I ran out in dark with onky flaahlight and fire arm shot and wound wounded lion if left I had. Vet hear as soon as I could contact 6hours later my daughter’s colt died do to injuries 6 months ago our neighbors mother in wheel chair attacked by coyote was shot by her son found to be rabid luckily shem was not bitten!
