My new Led light for offroad motorbike 18watts rated 6 Cree XB-D

Hi guys, I just buy this Lamp and I want to share this with you.

The lamp come in box without any wire harness kit instead others brands like Aurora or Rigid

The lamp look very well made, I cant resist to open it and see what is inside, I avoid the warranty? Maybe… I dont know if the electronics inside can resist well to vibrations.

I buy the flood model, I try to take the optic out that was very easy to do, I preffer spot instead…

The light is installed

Because I am going to use the light just some times my wife make me a cover to protect it of the dirt

I will post some night shoot later…

What bike do you have that mounted on? I’m looking at getting some of the single led versions for my dual sport.

Can you post a link where you purchased it from so we can see the specs and such. Thanks.

At 1260 lumens OTF, it seems rather underpowered for off-road motorbiking. Many human-powered mountain bikes have more lumens than this. I have a pair of XMLs on my mountain bike so OTF lumens is probably somewhere in the 1200-1300 range and I’m not comfortable going very fast off-road at night because visibility is pretty limited. I think I’d want at least 2-3 times as much light on a petrol-powered motorbike just because it’s capable of going much faster than my mountain bike.

I am pretty sure that your lights with XML Leds are not 1200-1300 lumens, in the best scenary maybe 800 lumen each, the XML led is better for flood use, the small die Leds like XPG of this one in this lights XB-D throw better… You have to check this light at night…

Oh, I wasn’t suggesting that they were 1200-1300 each. My guess is somewhere around 600-650 each for a total of 1200-1300 for the pair. I guess I should have said “total OTF lumens” in my original post. I still don’t think it’s enough light to mountain-bike safely at night but to each his own. Since it’s IP67-rated, the flood version of this light might make an interesting security floodlight for a house.

good review!

I have an 18” version of the same light. I have it installed on the front of my truck for offroading and night driving on back roads

Good idea…

Thanks

Here’s a link to my review of the 18” version if anyone is interested

Great… Thanks

Sure, you just need a 12v DC power supply.

I ordered a spot one off fleabay and planning to convert it to 4x XM-L in series. Any recommendations for a power supply from a 12v battery source?
