Review: International Outdoor Store SL3/JM26 flashlight holster

Not owning an SL3 or JM26 light, but owning several larger lights in need of a holster I purchased this holster http://intl-outdoor.com/sl3jm26-flashlight-holster-p-657.html,to see if it would serve my purpose.

The holster itself appears to be made from a very sturdy nylon material with a softer lining. Almost like a very thin layer of wet suit material. All the edges have a reinforcing piping around the edges. This will also stop fraying.

The plastic loop is made from a very hard plastic material and should last the life of the holster. All the seams are very neatly sewn with only a very few loose threads. Nothing to worry about on my sample. The velcro appears to grip very well and also should last a long time.

The name suggests that this is for 26650 sized lights but 18650 lights with a big head fit fine in this holster as well.

The only fault I have with the holster is that the flap could be about 30mm longer with a longer piece of velcro to suit so that lights with a taller a fatter head will also fit in this holster. If you look at the first picture on the website you can see what I mean. The velcro is only just gripping. A longer flap would solve this and make it far more universal.

To sum up I'm giving this holster a 9 out of 10. If it had the longer flap this would get a solid 10.

Front.

Rear.

Flap width.

Side view.

A 34mm diameter tailcap will fit through comfortable. Any bigger than 37mm will be getting tight.

Lights tested are from left to right. Defiant ArmorMax 3C without the rubber buffers fitted, Trustfire TR-3T6, C8, HD2010, and finally my all time favorite light name, Dream Trip.

First up is the C8. Can you see it?

Secondly the HD2010. 63mm bezel, 24mm tailcap. This fits real nice.

Thirdly. Wait for it, the Dream Trip. 58mm bezel, 35mm cigar grip.

Fourthly the Trustfire TR 3T6. 55mm head, 50mm heat sink. From the end of the bezel to the opposite end of the heat sink is 65mm. The flap is to short to attach with this light. Tailcap fits no problem.

And finally the Defiant AmorMax 3C. This fits fine.

Hank from IOS has just sent me a picture showing the XinTD X3 also fits comfortably in this holster.

thanks MrsDNF, I was pondering this holster for my convoy l2, I’m not sure it’ll work though, how does the defiant 3c fit in unmolested form? that would give me an idea.

I just picked up a niwalker holster that is a fine fit for a zy-t08 or hd2010 but wont take the larger l2.

Greating timing! I ordered this holster two weeks ago. I needed something for my growing collection of plunger style lights and this one looked like it fit the bill. Your photos pretty much confirm I made the right choice. Thanks for sharing.

It seems that several the companys’ holsters are similar…

The Defiant 3C in unmolested form fits through the battery tube hole in the base off the holster ok but the head is just too deep and large to fit in the holster properly. A Maglite 3D ’s battery tube has not got a hope of fitting.

that answers that then, if a defiant 3c won’t fit, no way the l2 will fit, the head os just too large a diameter. Probably need one of those duty ring rigs like you’d use for a maglite because I really don’t want to pay the price of the maxpedition flashlight holster….

Thanks for the review. I just ordered the holster for my SL3.

Thanks a lot for the review! Sticky’d.

Nice review. They should make the flaps so they can by kept out of the way so it's less cumbersome to draw the light when on the move.

Point taken but if I’m on the right track the flap protects the lens and stops it getting dirty whilst being carried. If it was longer as mentioned above it would be a lot more versatile.

I like the style of that thing, have one similar to that… It doesn’t look like it’s available on the site though. Any other place to purchase it?

I brought this for my Crelant 7G5CS couple months ago, but it turn out to be a little bad, therefore im still looking after larger holster for my Crelant.

with my Crelant 7G5CS, it just doesn’t secures well at all

however it fits nicely on my friend’s X8, so i end up gifting it for his X8.

It appears to be the same holster keron and I also noted the issue with the tag. Do you have a link to it. Did the heatsinking on the Y3 have to be pushed hard into the holster to get it down that far as it did on mine?

i think i brought it from here http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/Big-Head-Flashlight-Pouch-Flashlight-Holster-for-JM26-TC500-Flashlight-Black-/141370908211?pt=AU_Sport_Camping_Hiking_Lamps_Torches&hash=item20ea5cde33 also there are other seller selling the same thing i guess.

And yes, i do have to struggles a bit to get my crelant’s heatsinking part fully in, with the top flap not enough length to fully reach the velcros

This holster fits (just barely) the Shadow JM35.

Oh, nice!!! Glad this thread was revived!!!
If the owners of this holster don’t mind, I’d ask for a favour!
I have an Amutorch AM30 (I guess it was the former “Shadow” brand), that is quite similar to the JM26 in the head. However, the battery tube is a bit thicker, so I don’t know if the light would fit in this holster.

I would ask you, owners, if you could measure the height and size of the holster’s bottom hole to see if the AM30 would fit.
Here are the dimensions of the light:
Height: 15,32cm
Bottom diameter: 4,77cm

Curiously, I found a bunch of similar holsters yesterday on AliExpress while looking for other stuff. I want to buy one, but I need to check if the light fits, even if I have to “mod” the holster a bit
