Led panel construction for indoor lighting

Hey guys!

When last browsing the web I encountered these things

Now because of the hight price for these things I was thinking.. would it be so hard to make it yourself?

Because all you really need is an aluminium panel, some led strips, a convertor, some thermal conducting glue and a glass/plexiglass plate.
(Or at least thats what I think I might need to build it)

And of course, when I can keep production costs under 100 euro's or so, this could be really interesting for me to start building and selling at a slightly higher price then production costs... (The listed price on the site is 350 euro's and I really can't see anyone buying this at that price!)

It would make an o so nice job for a student during the summer vacation!

Please share your thoughts on building and buying what parts and from which sellers.

those look amazing , how nice would that be as a skylight or a port hole light !

they charge so much money for these leds if you really look at it compared to the price point of CFLs- they still has the advantage , at least in bulb per bulb - takes ten years to equal out. the last time i did the numbers

, cost to buy vs savings , very generic - but taking the numbers as advertised and weighing the time it took to make up the savings

also makes it tough for peoples budgets being so expensive BUT light fixtures cost alot in general

currently i am making a wall unit , i want to use an XML but i still am super novice when it comes to electricity and micro currents

what makes the design difficult to make is making it all look even , i was looking at XLamp® CXA2011 i still have a couple warm mx-6's to test with first

good luck , i will post up my rig once i get it going

also a remote would rock , an out let with a manual dimmer and remote may work with the right driver

DX and a lot of other sites sells 5M reels with controller. They're only $50 or so.

But then costs for local retail stuff can be ridiculous. Around here, framing a painting can easily cost 300-400$ for a size that big.

I call spam….
