Roche X3 quick overview

Quicl overview of the Roche X3.

XM-L2 led
excellent fit, finish, anodizing
side switch, no tail switch
rubber switch button is recessed to prevent accidental activation and surrounded by a stainless steel ring
thick tube, as in thickness of aluminum tube
will take protected batteries from Wallbuys/Banggood/Fasttech with the larger Chinese protection circuit
three modes: high, medium, low
last mode memory
hold down switch for about 1/4 second to turn on, 1 second to turn off
finish light black/dark grey, not jet black
both tail and head threads are anodized so lockout can be achieved by loosening either

This light is almost the exact same size as a Convoy C8, has standard size C8 smooth reflector.

Edit: the driver has a hidden ramping mode, 2 quick clicks after light is already on to access, 1 quick click to start ramping, 1 quick click to stop, doesn’t seem to go all the way to low in the ramping mode, once light is turned off the ramping preset disappears.

Strange that they kept all that material on the tail when there is no tail cap. Looks like a nice light. Looks like its made from an old uniquefire C108 pieces parts.

I forgot all about that warsun ct9s. I was supposed to by that light a while ago. How do you like the warsun?

Like the Warsun a lot, as you can see from the pictures the reflector is deeper than the others lights.

I haven’t seen too many flashaholics that bought the warsun ct9s. I may have to check that one out. So with all these c8 flashlights, which one do you pick up the most to play with?

Like them all but probably prefer the Convoy L4 or Roche X3 the best, The Roche x3 feels the best in hand, Convoy L4 best beam with the OP reflector. Side switches are nice, Warsun CT9S is a little bigger and not as handy in size.

can we get a picture of the reflectors all lined up for prosperity sake?

Your L4 has an OP reflector?

Sorry but I not going to take all of the reflectors out of the lights, the Roche has a standard C8 reflector along with the Convoy C8, the Tangsfire is same diameter but deeper, Warsun is ever deeper than the Tangsfire, Convoy L4 seems to be same diameter as standard C8 but might be a little deeper(someone who has taken actual measurements may correct me).

I stand corrected, L4 is smooth, Convoy C8 is OP.

Thank you. It was a long shot to begin with, the description helps.

Ah alright, they do have an awesome beam even with the smooth reflector. One of the reasons I’m a bit apprehensive about tearing it apart to beef it up.

this makes me want to purchase one of these three lights with a side switch.
can you tell me which one is the brightest and has the greatest flood/spill and throw?

Tough decisions when you go to pick up a c8 light. The warsun ct9s reflector is also a few mm wider than all of them. Plus deeper as you had said

i think i may try the convoy l4. gonna look for some reviews
edit. deal breaker for the convoy l4 ……side switch is only for changing modes, think i may have to get the x3 now.

is there a delay to turn on the x3

blueb8llz-got popped in eye with a tree limb, will check throw and flood on them when my eye recovers, X3 is about instantaneous on when pushing the button, I listed it as 1/4 second but it’s just as quick as pushing a clickie button.

phsinvent-correct about the CT9S reflector being larger in diameter, I included it in the photos because it has a side switch.

Just spent about 15 minutes comparing beams of the 3 side switch lights. As far as spill, all three look very close, very hard to tell the differences between the three. For throw the Convoy and Roche are the same, both have the same reflector and both are XM-L2 driven similarly. The surprise is the Warsun with the bigger reflector actually throws less than the other two but it has an XM-L led. With an XM-L2 it would probably equal the other two but it should out throw the other two since the reflector is bigger, maybe it’s not driven as hard. As for tint the Convoy is very cool, the Warsun cool, and the Roche neutral.

Mh… You won’t disassemble the lights? I’m just curious which one has a driver pill and which one not.
L4 has no driver pill, that’s for sure.

I hope I will receive X3 soon and I will do full review with teardown and all  maybe some amps pumping also

Perfect!
(PM me if ready? )

thanks for that. is there a delay to turn the roche off?
