What is this madness? Cooling fins, cooling fans and all. I can’t even identify what this cree led is. Probably creates tons of glare and very little light.

This second one is a mess of what appears to be cree xpd led’s.

maybe very little light output on the road, for that price you might as well get HID kit… these day it’s a lot cheaper and guarantee bright

Yes, Hid is king. I haven’t looked at led automotive bulbs in a long time. Years ago it was all smd led’s that sucked and now they are trying to pack more powerful leds. Plus heat sinks with cooling fans. Crazy.

a friend recently put something vaguely similar in his reverse lights and they work great - but HEAD lights, um, no thanks

Did they have crazy cooling fans?

Specs for the unit don't match the datasheet. Not even close. Not enough lumens for a modern headlight. Voltage could be a problem. This is probably just for show cars, and I'm sure it's great for that application.

People who have reviewed this on car forums say they’re actually not awful. They have 2x 1512 LEDs, so the potential output is quite high. The beam pattern in a halogen headlight seems to be better than a HID kit in a halogen headlight.

I’m a little tempted to pick up the H8 set to see how they perform in my fog lights. But not too tempted.

no just the fins, and a pair was ~$45

It says 1100-2200 lumen per led on that spec sheet. What’s with the 1100 vs 2200?

Do you have any links to the reviews?

Here they are with a big american mark up.

Here is someone completely submerging the fan in water.
