True, but when you factor in degradation of cell capacity, that 500/1500 cycle rating may be reduced depending on what you're willing to accept.
I have 4+ yr. old eneloops that are now reading ~ 1800 mAh capacity. Still fine for my simple needs, but something to consider.

500 cycle are enough. If you charge them 2 times a week, you have nice battereis for about 5 years.
I just ordered 16 of these from TD. Now I have several of every kind of eneloop. I also ordered 16 each of the new gen. white aa's and aaa's plus a c9000 as a bday gift for Norm. $)
You're going to love the c9000 for recharging all those exotic sexy eneloops. I hope you dont plan on sleeping with the sparkly ones under your pillow! 
lol I already have 2 c9000's of my own. This new c9000 and the 32 aa & aaa white new gen. eneloops are a gift for Norm. He uses a lot of aa & aaa alkalines and I thought I'd get him started on going green.
Thats very nice of you. Ive also converted many Duracell/Energizer alkaline users to Eneloops. Its funny how people balk at the prices until they use them and then suddenly discover what they have been missing out on these past few years. Those high amperage discharge curves are something no alkaline could ever pull off. Any novice will quickly note the benefits through casual usage.
Do you have a Costco in the islands close by? Their prices for 2nd gen eneloop tones with charger are the best this side of HK. 8 AA + 4 AAA with 4 station charger for less than $30. Around Christmas time, they drop to $25 and with coupon are $20. I buy 5 packs and resell the AAA's with charger for $17 without shipping on CPF. Simple math.... 8 AA eneloop tones for $3. So my friend, go to costco if you have on close by!
