help me win the flashlight war at work!

My solarforce l2 is not getting head turns like it used to. Now people are buying those zoomies from Costco that run on primary batteries. Couple people have trustfire j18’s. Being a flashlight nerd, I find this completely unacceptable! I need a light that is going to put those to shame. Help a dude out! I’m looking for all out throw for less than 100 bucks.

I’d personally suggest the Supbeam K40 XM-L2 for $85-95 shipped.

It’s a very good thrower with decent spill, and shoots out 350Kcd when dedomed and current boosted to 6.5A. The mod itself is very easy.

Well if you are competing with a J-19 then maybe you want to blow them away with max lumens instead of throw. This one will destroy a J-19 in lumens. Simply wreck it.

How about a Multi-color LED drop-in for your L2. I had one for a while made by Richard (RMM) and cool factor was very high. Everybody wanted one.

Single emitter thrower probably won’t wow the crowd even if it’s a super thrower.

Maybe match big triple thrower with a big TK70 clone highly modded. Top out around $120.

Edit: you said J18 not J19 my bad. J18 is a super flooder with 100-150 yards of usable throw.

a modded M6 from RMM ?

I can think of only one light that has captured my attention in the last 6 months, like truly captured it. I would venture to say this would get there attention 100% guaranteed:

The SkyRay King RGBWUV

I'm guessing its under $100 to build, but the labor involved, now that's a different story! I have faith in you though!

You could always go for the Nitecore SRT-7 or the Sunwayman F40A I guess and take the lazy route!

Firefoxes FF4

They’ll all hate you.

What makes for the real WOW factor? I’d say expectation vs reality. If you walk in with a massive light a person will expect massive power. With that being said I’d steer away from the long multi-emitter xxxFire lights. …At the same time your competition is strutting some pretty big lights so you can’t go too small… The Firefoxes FF4 DEFINITELY will WOW them. NOTHING has the size vs lumens AND throw of that thing. But big $$$ is the killer for that one. A heavy modded Supfire M6 is probably one of your best bets. 3000+ real lumens in a (coat) pocketable package and still has respectable throw. (you need a nice balance of lumens/throw for maximum “wow”) lol. A step down option? MT-G2 Convoy M1 comes to mind. Step up? BTU Shocker. But to get that one nicely modded you’ll be looking at the 150 dollar range.

I will put an end to the rambling now. :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: If max throw @ less than $100 is what you’re definitely after go with ryansoh3’s recommendation. (or a TN31 w/ the same mods)

If you want to win the war…this is the fastest way to go…

Stock SRK is ok…modded are powerhouses…you will win

For me too…
It’s a lot of money but it’s A LOT OF LIGHT.
That thing is crazy…
For half the money you can’t get half the lumens, i think.

M6 from RMM. Turns off street lights, illuminates everything, hurts the eyes, melts plastic, probably pops popcorn too. It will win the contest right out of the box. You will have to work on your “Moo-hahahaaaa” laugh to give the full effect.

Heheheheh.

Like others have said….ff4 or RMM M6. Single versus multi emitter.

Remember he’s trying to spend <$100 on this project, so the FF4 is pretty much out of the picture. I think Jerommel was making a little joke when he suggested the FF4 - it’s such a sleeper it would be perfect for this other than the $$$$ issue.

What about battery selection? I use nothing but Panasonic’s in my l2. These guys use the cheap crap that they get bundled with their lights they buy on eBay! Will going with some beasts like king Kong 26650’s in the proper light smoke those cheap light/battery combos?

SRK from RMM, some Efest purple 30amper’s and smoke some retinas

If you go with the mod 2 Supfire M6 from RMM then grab the recommended batteries, but really even normal panasonics in the m6 would blow away the cheap Chinese crap batteries that get included with many lights.

OP…jump on this deal like a fat kid on a twinky!

6 bucks more than the limit but it looks mighty impressive.
