Well, you need to be some place where you can buy a ticket; I'm guessing that it is going to be impossible to do from the UK, unless you get on a plane. But if you did manage it somehow and you did somehow win with the lump sum payout, as opposed to 20 years of monthly payouts, you'd end up with roughly 60% of the $500M and then you'd have to pay taxes on that, so you'd end up with about $200M in your pocket.
BTW, my numbers are not exact, they merely represent how our government would end up with more than you despite you winning the lottery. The states thak their cut and you pay local, state and federal taxes after that.
