Convoy C8 shorting out??

Ive only had my c8 for a few months… And it has started to short out so bad that sometimes it wont even come on…i have to loosin the tail cap and keep clickn on and off to find sweet spot to make it stay on lol… What can i do to fix?.. Its stock…bought from fasttech

Thx

Charged battery? Check switch?

Batterys are charged because they work in my other flashlight…how can i check switch

To test Just unscrew the switch and short the battery with the tube with a something conductive(wire, paperclip, tweezers…)

I would try to fasten the retaining ring in the tailcap, there are two holes in the metal just try to screw it tight in with a small screwdriver in one hole or with a pair of tweezer/thin pliers.

the only moving part in the whole C8 is the switch so try to make contact between the tail of the battery (negative) and the battery tube. If it still flickers then it’s not the switch.

Thx for the info…

Is that the one that has a spring under the metal plunger, and the spring sits on top of a thin metal tab that is folded over the back side of the switch housing?

I have several lights like that and for some reason they flicker and blink or have issues (are incredibly sensitive, just brushing the tail cap makes the light dim and go crazy)

My solution to that is to solder the spring to that tab…just a small dab, but it takes scuffing the tab lightly with sandpaper or a hobby file, immediately covering with a bit of solder paste, then slipping the spring between the bottom two coils of the spring then tacking it down with a single solder blob…no more loose connections or flickery flickery

I haven’t pulled my C8 tail cap apart to see if it’s the tabbed kind or not

Also make sure the pill is screwed down tight (does the battery feel loose, if you shake it does it slide around at all?)

Might also check to see if the wires soldered to the star have kapton tape or electric insulative tape over them…could be shorting there too

Actually, could just be the retaining ring isn’t screwed down good enough (not shorting, but bad ground connectivity)

I believe this is a modified C8 clicky

Make sure the switch retaining ring in the tail cap is screwed down tight on the switch.
