Switch for Romisen RC-G2

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows where to get some replacement switches for the Romisen RC-G2? I have several of the RC-G2s where the switches won’t lock on. The light lights if I press the switch, but it won’t stay on.

I’ve seen some older threads about this, but I think the only suggestion was to maybe check with Bryan at shiningbeam.com.

I haven’t done that yet, but what I was really hoping for was for a more generic source for a replacement switch. Even a reverse clicky would be fine.

Thanks,
Jim

I have one RC-G2 and it does just that. Listening! :-)

I partially disassembled the tailcap, and it looks like the actual switch is kind of enclosed. Has anyone been able to take that apart? I put it in a vise and tried to turn the top ring (I think it’s a ring) but it wouldn’t budge :(…

FYI, the tailcap from an Ultrafire C3 almost fits. I think that it actually fits the RC-G2, but the threading is different.

Similarly, when it’s unscrewed from the tailcap, the switch assembly is similar size as the RC-G2 switch assembly, but again, it won’t thread into the RC-G2 tailcap because the threading is different.

Also, I was wondering if anyone who has an RC-G2 here might also have a McClicky switch? I’m wondering if that would fit and thread into the RC-G2 tailcap?

I bought one of these:

and it was smaller than the RC-G2 tailcap diameter-wise. Also, the spring was way too long.

So I cut most of the spring off, and smoothed the end using a dremel, and then I tried winding some solder wire starting from around the front of the switch, then around the threaded part, then shoving the switch into the RC-G2 tailcap, and it seems like it works:

I think that I still need to do some adjustments, because the tailcap threads almost, but not quite all, the way:
