You might have noticed that I created some new forum categories earlier this week. Well, I probably should have also created a new “Generosity” category for all of the countless displays of friendship and generosity that I’ve received from so many different members over the years.
The latest example comes from DBCstm, Krono, and JohnnyMac (and possibly other unnamed schemers, knowing you guys
But there’s more…. DBCstm informs me that this particular flashlight is very different from the other 800 embodiments of Krono’s blood and sweat. This one has led4power’s 5amp LD-1 driver, complete with PWM-free constant current on all modes, 50% better efficiency than other drivers on low mode, which mode is incidentally a nice low moonlight, and a barn-burning 4.86A ~ 1511 lumen high mode! This thing is seriously bright, easily the brightest single-emitter light I currently own. Really impressive. To get maximum performance, the schemers of this gift thoughtfully included a Panasonic NCR18650BD cell, and I am told that the emitter is on a copper DTP Maxtoch star, shining through a UCLP AR coated lens from flashlightlens.com. Additionally, DBCstm informs me that it has a “spring bypass on the driver, and a complete wirethrough in the tail” for optimum power handling.
What a fantastic light, and more importantly, what a fantastic display of friendship and generosity! I’m really impressed, thank you so much to any and all that shared in making my day with this generous gift!
Led4power kicked in the driver, I want to make sure he gets some credit here as well for that wonderful effort on his part! Nice driver, waiting for more stock to become available. :)
Richard (RMM) provided the Panasonic cell, also want to thank him for all his contributions here and the tremendous effort on his part to help so many people out.
Lot of great people assembled together here, fantastic place to be.
