Flashlight Cleaning

I don't know how many of you use your lights on a daily basis but I do. My Spark SL6 get's quite dirty throughout the course of a day and I wanted to find something to keep it looking amazing.

I wanted to let everyone know, I have found something to do the job!

Vinylex Protectant by Lexol. It's made for vinyl, rubber and plastic but it cleans everything so amazingly well in my car that I decided to use it as a cleaner on my lights because of the rubber o-rings and switch boots. I don't know if it is the silicone in the stuff or something else but it went way beyond a cleaner and protectant for the rubber bits.

I have used it quite a few times on all of my lights and every time I use it, it seems to make a "just polished" feel on the light. My Spark SL6 feels better now than when it was new. It now feels like it has a coating of wax on it. Not slick, just smooth.

The stuff cleans amazingly. All of the laser etched writing on my lights looks as bright as the day I pulled it out of the box. Using it to clean the threads and o-rings has made removal and installation of the tail caps silky smooth too! Switch boots are soft and pliable.

This stuff even cleans the glass lenses so well that after wiping the excess off with a good microfiber towel, the glass makes that clean "squeak" as you rub your finger across it.

Next time you're in an auto parts store, pick some of this stuff up and give it a try. I recommend it for the inside of your car too. It's the only product I will use on the interior of my car except for the leather bits, which get Lexol.

Interesting. I use Vinylex, but only as a replacement for Armoral. Never tried it on metal or glass surfaces.

Thanks for the Lexol tip. I'll pick some up tomorrow and give it a try.

Another good cleaner and protector is Pledge, available at almost any grocery or dept store. Many people use it on car & aircraft finishes (exterior paint and plastic interiors)... and it even works well with wooden furniture. Its also great on anything plastic, vinyl, plexiglass or rubber and does a good job at cleaning and protecting most metal finishes. It goes on thin with a cleaning agent that evaporates and also has a fine gentle paste wax built in. When rubbed out with minimal effort, it leaves a very thin coating of wax but not a slippery surface. Its not so good on glass.
