Help me find perfection

Hello ye all,

I am searching for the perfect EDC flashlight. Here are my criteria.

  • AAAx1
  • Forward Clicky / momentary on
  • Start on low or memory (very low and max all I need)
  • Deep seating STRONG clip ala Streamlight Microstream.
  • Waterproof / Resistant
  • Glass lens
  • Lightweight
I love my Streamlight Microstream. My issues, lens scratch easy. o-rings tear easy, clicky rubber wears in front pocket. I understand the new version has a replaceable tail cap. This is to see what else is out there.
Thanks everyone!

Clicky switch on a AAA makes the search much harder. I know because I want the same thing

Haha, well if it was easy I wouldn't have come to the experts. I figure if it exists, you guys will know it.

@ weiser701: Where in Montana? I lived in Butte for about a year.

How much do you want to spend is the question.

Lumapower Avenger GX is one.

Streamlight Microstream with an ITP A3 Upgraded/Olight I3 head on it.

You might be able to find a forward clicky and carry clip that would fit a Trustfire F23.

You could also get a Preon Revo 1 with a click switch tailcap but that's a reverse click.

Well since I didn't mention it. Price is lower on my priority. Say, lower than $60 US.

that Lumapower looks promising. Not sure what upgrading the microstream would do unless it alos fixed the other issues I mentioned.

Thanks

Billings.. although I grew up in and spent most of my life in Western WA on the Puget Sound. And while I was attending college in WA I dated a native Hawaiian girl and then one who eventually moved there, so I also have my connection to HI

Before any one jumps in with a “he said he needs a forward clickie, and the maratac is a twistie”, hold up. I have my maratac Cu set so the twist is a quarter off of turning the light on. Squeezing the light as if it were a tail clicky now will turn the light on momentarily.
L-M-H with memory
AAA (10440 works too)
Deep clip
Tiny (even the Cu version is very light)
AR glass lens
It is borderline budget for the Cu model but the Al version will act the same and is cheaper .

I have a Maratac. Nice light. It's not a clicky even if you cheat the system. lol

The pocket clip is not very strong either.

Well, putting the head of an A3 on the Microstream body would help with the o-rings and the lens issue, but you'll still have an issue with the tailswitch boot wearing out. You will get the better high and low modes of the A3. Also, getting a brand new A3 and a brand new Microstream is still $10 cheaper than the Lumapower and you get a ton of options.

If you can live with an AA light, I think this one looks pretty darn good

Sweet! We're already giving Balder recommendations, haha

Sweet indeed. Two issues off the boot. The clip is half way down the body. Won't work for how I carry. Clipped to the front right pocket. Also, it's bigger than I want. I have a NiteCore D2. I think it is just about perfect, just too fat for my EDC.

Thanks for that link, I may end up with one anyways. It just won't fit this purpose.

I have been edc’ing mine for over a year and have no complaints about the clip (or the light for that matter). It is still as strong as it was when I got it. Maybe I lucked out and got a good one.

This is all about me. Not you. LOL

Since obviously you didn't get lucky and get a tail clicky, the only thing besides that I didn't love was the clip. I bought mine a couple of years ago. Quite possible they improved the clip. Send me yours for an evaluation. ;-)

OK, I will sacrifice the "momentary on" and just a normal clicky. Does that help much?

Well, if you already have a Maratac AAA, you could take the clip off and put it on a Trustfire F23 or Brinyte PD03A. There just aren't a lot of 1xAAA lights with clickies. Generally with that battery configuration most people are looking for smallest size and that means a twisty as opposed to a click switch.

Any word on the N-Light B3? Or the LumaPower Avenger GX?

I may order one. Like you said. Can’t beat the price.

This dosn't meet your critera but you can't beat the price. Shipping is fairly quick and it may get you by untill you find the EDC light you are searching for. https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/1086
