My thoughts are expressed in the review, but to sum it up, I was impressed with the quality of the light.
Overall fit and finish were great.
User interface was good. Handy quick modes and hidden blinky modes, with lockout and standby features.
The lack of weight is a plus for anyone wanting to save weight in a pack or camping gear.
I just would not recommend it for modding, as the unibody cast construction is just too light and too little metal, for any serious modding. That's just my take on it. Watch the long, boring review if you wish. I tried to cover all of it's features and how the user interface worked for someone using it for the first time.
The light was provided by Banggood, for review. I did not pay for the light. If I was to buy, I would want to look for a price under $50. I think it is worth it in the $40's range, but not higher than that, unless it was going to be my primary and only light. Then it would be worth it in the $50's range.
I will add beam shots tonight, if it doesn't rain too hard.
Look for a giveaway of this light, in the near future.
I already watched the video on Youtube and I want one. However, price will be a deciding factor on whether I do buy one. I did a quick check on Amazon and they were $60+, I don’t need one that badly. If I can pick one up in the $40 range I’ll probably do it when I get some spare cash.
Yeah, $65 is too pricey for this light. I purchased one with a 20% discount, kept it for about a week then sold it. Overall, it’s a nice light but I had no need for it. It feels great in your hand but it’s hard to pay that much money for it when there are cheaper lights that out throw it and have a better look and feel. I did a comparison between the EC4 I had and a XinTD V5 XM-L2 U3 1A and the XinTD out threw it and the beam looked a lot nicer as well. It’s hard to beat that $30 price on the XinTD.
I am now with my EC4 recently arrived. Sorry, but interface of EC4 is 500 times a best value over the XinTD. I really like the explorer “2 switch” interface of Nitecore.
EC4 is ver compact and offers a great runtime, a perfect flashlight for a weekend without battery replace. Is a flashlight for a real use, not for a Wow throw!
That is a really nice light, I like ultralightweight, but agree there's not much to mod about it. I would hope that it opens up for an emitter swap and that's all! Thanks for another nice review :-)
