My unscientific shipping challenge

Round 1: Manafont vs random HK ebay seller

Since I purchased the Tank007 BLF light this morning I decided to order some more 14500 cells but from a different seller. I picked up a pair for $7.79 on ebay 40 minutes ago from a HK seller I've never purchased from before but has good feedback. Since it was still 10:00 am Friday morning for them there's still a chance they could have it shipped out today; same chance as the MF purchase since it was ordered before the day started but after business hours the previous day. I could have saved $1.50 or so by purchasing from MF but I'll gladly pay the difference just to try the challenge. So let's see which arrives first! Right now my money is on the ebay seller.

I admit this is mostly just for fun and not at all scientific. The only "scientific" aspect of it is both orders being placed on the same day :P

Ebay sellers tend to ship out the next day. So generally they will be faster.

Where they are shipping from makes a difference. China is slower than HK. Since your purchases are both from HK that's another scientific aspect.

My bet is on the ebay seller, especially if a power seller.

Kudos to you for attempting this. So we'll get an update in what... 3-4 weeks? ;)

haha.. well, my last HK ebay purchase took 9 days so I'm hoping for something similar from this seller. My most recent MF purchase has now exceeded 3 weeks.

I'm definitely counting on that. However, there's no reason a MF or KD couldn't do the same. The ebay seller doesn't hold an advantage in this regard. The feedback systems holds them accountable to do what a good seller should do. :)

Update 11:44 pm MDT: The ebay purchase is already marked as shipped and includes a tracking number :D

Manafont purchase: Processing

I think the MF purchase will get there just as fast. Mine dispatched today. Now if you were to compare an eBay seller to KD, DD, or DX, it would be no contest, the ebay item would get there 1 to 2 weeks faster.

You can try sz-wholesale (XTAR, HK) and HKequipment, they ship really fast. HKE is usually not later than 2 days.

Actually, I expect the MF purchase to get hear quicker than usual because I assume the flashlights are all packed and ready to go being that this is a special edition thing that just kicked off. Heck, it may even beat my previous MF purchase which seems to be in limbo at the moment after 3 weeks. I must say though that I've been searching harder for flashlights on ebay. It's a challenge because of how the keywords are used for some of them but I'm discovering more and more of the popular models each time. There's currently a listing for the Shadow TC6 a few dollars cheaper than CNQG shipped. I was hoping to find the Shadow Mini but no success.

Hey yeah...seems to be a good deal for the Shadow TC6. Well if you get more items, Ric can usually give you a good price or if you are a regular (also partially due to the combined shipping via DHL, it "scales" pretty good just for a few bucks more for 1 more, could more or less match registered air mail). That guy got the DRY CW at USS$71...so what are you guys waiting for. LOL!

Either that Ebay guy is Ric, his friend/partner, or he ripped off CNQG's pix. LOL! And trying to clear the few items.

I want the JM701!

Here's some more shameless updates just for the heck of it :)

I didn't need to blot out the tracking numbers, but now it becomes classified!

And yes, I did enter the correct tracking number provided by MF (copy and paste). So even though MF provided me with a tracking number USPS doesn't seem to recognize it. However, the tracking number for the ebay purchase (transacted several hours after the MF purchase) is in the system. Interesting...

If you got that so fast, that means it is the same as KD. I got my tracking number within 15 minutes. :) And it only left China 12 days later at KD (9 days after purchase then did the China Post tracking recognise the number).

Oh I'm aware of the practice of generating a shipping label but then either sitting on the product (inefficiency, waiting to batch ship) or waiting until it's back in stock to actually ship it out. I just thought it was interesting that both gave me tracking numbers yet only one is recognized by USPS. Honestly, I'm not even sure how to interpret that, haha.

Yeah.... well, one of the ebay sellers surprised me. He gave me an IDD call to confirm my address! (for a usd40 item)

Another update:

The Keygos KE5 I purchased on ebay has arrived. That's another sub 10-day delivery from an ebay seller :)

As for the batteries: I purchased them at the end of last week and monday was a federal holiday so I definitely won't be seeing them this week.

Bought a Trustfire Z5 from ebay seller cyberport888 on 8/30 and received it today, 9/8 shipped from Hong Kong. Doesn't get much faster than that from an overseas seller.

My Trustfire X9 was purchased from cyberport888 and arrived in 9 days. He was recommended by a member here so I specifically purchased from that seller. That was the previous ebay flashlight purchase to the Keygos. Hopefully the streak continues with the batteries!

22 days and still waiting for my x9 from cyberport888

Well that sucks. Did they at least ship it already? If they shipped it, it's out of their control and not really their fault. My order with them was shipped the day after I paid for it. From that point it was all up to international mail.

My fastest ever, E07 from manafont shipped Sep2 and received Sep9.
