Need a new PIR light

I’ve managed to break the glass on one of the PIR security lights that was fitted to the house when we moved in, so I’m looking for a replacement. It doesn’t need to be particularly bright - I don’t want to wake up the neighbours everytime it comes on - but bright enough to clearly illuminate the immediate area.

It’s for UK use if that makes any difference. (I love flashlights, but my household electrical knowledge is limited.)

Can anyone suggest something fairly cheap but effective?

Search eBay for: LED PIR
And you will find a lot of the cheap floodlights with led.

Be careful though, a lot of those cheap ones aren’t earthed, well they have an earth but it is hanging loose, and heatsinking may need to be checked.
Also if buying a 20watt, you may only get a 10watt ballast/driver.

I don’t have a clue about electrics (I just go “aaaaaaahh” when the light comes out the front) so wouldn’t know how to earth a poor one.

I can live with less light though, it doesn’t need to cover a large area.

Why don’t you just replace the lens?

It’s a funny shape and an old light, so I’ve no idea where I’d get another.

You can make one. Either plexiglass or if it gets too hot for that a large lens (<3$ at fasttech) mounted to a fitting alu or steel sheet.
