Does anybody have practical experience on the above comparison e.g. did builds in the same light with both LEDs taking some measurements? I don’t have any V2 binned LEDs so cannot do testing. I’m asking because the V3 binned XP-L Hi’s are getting scarce, there’s a lot of V2 binned LEDs available though…

Thanks sinner… Sure, I have that info. I’m kind of just asking if that +–5% lumens really makes that big of a difference, taking into account that we’re stuck with a lot of V2 binned XP-L Hi’s at the moment. E.g. IOS does not have any V3s in stock anymore, and Hank has no ETA on more. He only got the V2s in now. It also seems like Cree does not have any available at the moment. I know Richard has a few, but not sure for how long. The V3 binned XP-L Hi’s seems to become a scarce find now… And I kind of have to convince myself that the V2 is just the way to go. I’m kind busy with expectation management… don’t want to be disappointed when I see the difference, in practice, between the V3 & V2s.
May I say its like having a non-AR-coated lens vs an AR-coated lens in a light? Is that more or less what I should expect…? If so, its to a good extent not something I’m going worry about. I’ll just run with the V2s for now until we have the higher binned LEDs properly available & stocked.
Honestly its still a lot of lumens, from a hobbyist pov i would say 5% does make a difference (on paper) because that’s what we do, we dont want to be the second best, but what we can do is push them a bit harder, use thicker gauge wires , spring bypasses, major ocd stuff…
better get them V3’s from Richard before they too are sold out…

With the price on the XP-L HI’s, I would wait for higher bins…
