My girlfriend/soon-to-be-fiancée’s dad has a new work shed he will keep his mowers, lawn equipment, and other cool stuff in, and it needs some light, not a lot but enough to function when it’s dark outside. He’d rather not have a line run out to it just yet.
I was thinking some low power led arrays and either NiMH banks or SLA batteries. Possibly with solar charging?
Any ideas or insights will be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like a great excuse to get a M6. They tail stand nicely and put out plenty of light for a small shed while in Medium Mode. Warn him to be careful picking it up as it could be hot. Seating it on an aluminum object could help pull some heat from the light.
This 72 LED light bar would work great - runs for hours and hours (mine ran overnight) on 4 rechargeable NiMH AA batteries. This would last for months with just intermittent nighttime use.
There are also some small dome lights that run off 2 AAA batteries - I keep one in a dark closet. Puts enough light out to grab what I need from the dark space.
Use one of these, it is cheap and always on. The light is of good quality and comes with a good AA NiMH battery in it, you can also upgrade the battery to an Eneloop lite, with 5,000 cycles.
I am getting a new shed soon for the garden which I am going to use for working on the bikes. I rent a garage of the local coucil, which is good but a little way away from the house and has no power. Also, I don’t like that anyone passing the garage while I’m working on the bikes can see what I’ve got in there.
The new shed is in my garden and I hope will allow me to work unobserved.
Anyway, I don’t want to go to the trouble of running electic cable from the house as an extension lead will be fine for the odd electrical tool that I might use, however lights would be nice.
I have several 12 volt batteries and was wondering about using them to power lights for the shed.
Has anyone used them? Are they bright enough? Where is the best place to get them. I guess campers and caravaners must use them but any help gratefully received.
Any suggestions…?? To make it look more good…I have hired the services of http://www.bkelectricservices.com/
