Olight SR Mini Intimidator Ⅱreview (3200lm, 3xXM-L2 CW,3x18650)

Greetings,
Today’s review will be dedicated to a Olight Mini Intimidator Ⅱflashlight. The model is not completely new, it is an updated version of an existing flashlight. The flashlight kepts it’s physical dimensions, but the new model also has a built in charger and some mode changes. The minimal mode now has much longer runtime, and the max brightness has increased to 3200 lumens as well.

First you see the specs of the older model (2800 lm max brightness is an indication of the older model), followed by the new Intimidator.

Let’s start

Like other serious Olight flashlights, the Mini Ⅱcomes in a nice plastic box, that will be useful to store the flashlight as well.

Please note that there are two packaging versions, with and without accessories. My review features the simpler edition.

The holster is pretty nice, and perfectly fits the flashlight (not made for some other model). The holster can be used with the flashlight head down and up.

Here is the hero. The new model looks more modern and streamlined. compared to the older model.

The tailcap is completely flat, tail-standing is not a problem. The bezel has a really nice matte finish, it’s both brutal and smooth.

One of the main differences, the built in battery charger. It is impressing to see that a new feature was introduced without affecting the physical dimensions of the flashlight.

Here is the very nice looking tailcap. The batteries are really easy to install, all positive leads first, that’s all.
Please note that the introduction of a build in charger now does not allow usage of CR123A batteries, and the 18650 are now connected in parallel, unlike the old model. Now it is possible to operate the flashlight using only one or two batteries, but i’d recommend using high quality cells, because in high modes there is some serious current draw.

Some notes regarding flashlight operation

1. The button is really nice. Not too tight, not too soft. The click is clear and crisp.
2. There is a mode memory. Operation the flashlight is really simple, you don’t really need the user manual.
3. In turbo mode the flashlight emits some serious heat, be careful. If you need a WOW flashlight, the MINI could be it. It is a matter of seconds before cloth or paper smokes because of the energy emitted by the TIR optics.

The flashlight in my rather small palm. It sits pretty nicely, considering the diameter.

Comparison with the older model. The size is practically the same (the bezel is different). The old bezel won’t fit the new model, the holes location is different now. Please note that the TIR optics is different, a less floody one.

Wall-shot. There is a lot of light, there is no classical hotspot/spill distinction, just a lot of light at the middle, gradually decreasing towards the sides.

Not bad at all, especially considering the huge hotspot

Final words, conclusion

A great light made better. No more strange “hold to turbo” feature, a build in charger an a longer run-time are a welcome refreshment.

I’d like to thank Olight for providing the review sample.

Very interesting review! I want this thing now :money_mouth_face:

Thank you!

wow - nice pictures!

thanks for sharing

Nice review, thanks for making it. It is not my type of light I think.

Thanks for the review! I like the ergonomics but too floody for my taste.

hallo.nice review.please,is possible to gues the runtime im turbo?thanks.i use 3400 mah lions…different types….i dont know, whic can be the best for this light…thanks a lot

Very nice review on a much improved little light.

Hope the OP doesn’t think I’m stepping on their toes but I also reviewed this light elsewhere. Here’s the runtime graph I generated for it using 3x 3400mAh KeepPowers:

The runtime on turbo and high are basically identical because it steps down so quickly.

Also, not trying to derail the thread here, but if anyone else has one of these lights and has managed to access the driver I’d love to hear how you did it. I’ve been unsuccessful getting to that thing so far.

thanks for the review. i never bought the first generation because of the ui on turbo mode.
i am sure glad they changed it.
can you tell me if you turned the light of in turbo, would it turn back on turbo?

what it mean?? AUTHENTIC……does exist oligh fake in the market or what

I think they use “AUTHENTIC” all around their site to make clear that you will not get any fakes from them, even if there isn´t any fake to buy anywhere.

Turning it back on does re-engage Turbo.

Don’t remember which review I got the data from, but with continuous restarts, it was around 1hour 40 minutes of run time on turbo, (down to 50% output level) using 3,400 mAh batteries.

It does get quite warm on Turbo. Honestly, High is pretty darn bright and would probably suffice for most tasks.

On Turbo I have illuminated houses @200 meters and could see usable light on the houses.
