Acebeam EC50 strange tailcap readings!

Hi,
Yesterday I got an Acebeam EC50 with battery included.
After a while I got accustomed to the handling of the two-stage sideswitch and now I’m in love entirely! It’s a C8 sized light with some real output!

Today I tried my high drain 26650ies on hand and got tailcap Amperes on Turbo (taken with DMM - I know I should buy a clamp meter….)

Efest Purple 4200mAh: 6.7 Amperes
Basen 5000mAh: 6.6 Amperes
Acebeam 5000mAh protected: 8.9 Amperes

I double triple checked, the numbers are true! Can anybody explain or at least guess how that could be please?

Isn’t it due to high-drain battery keep a higher voltage under load compared to non-high drain battery, so the boost driver is not drawing as much current for the high-drain battery?

Do you notice any difference in brightness with the higher amp draw?

I would say voltage compensation, but 2 more amps means almost 1.0V difference if the driver was handling the same power. Maybe test with a partially discharged high drain?

This is because Acebeam proprietary battery is not good at high current, as you can see here, consider that the batteries in the comparison aren’t the best in class like IMR4200 .

So the weaker battery delivers less Volts under load, therefore it needs to pull higher current to deliver the needed power.

Your are right! The problem comes when battery goes under a specific voltage (under load) that causes the impossibility for driver to operate on turbo any more. With another battery you should continue some time more.
Personally, I have asked Acebeam if possible buying EC without battery… I’m waiting for an answer.
