My Youtube Review:

https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=pSdwSsZKeUI

Construction:

This light is as simple as they come. It’s a twist head AAA flashlight with a wire style pocket clip. Threads were nice and clean, has an orange peel reflector and seems to be built very well! The o-rings were in tact and properly lubed. The lens is double sided AR glass. They put alot of attention into detail for such a small and inexpensive light.

Performance:

My ceiling bounce test numbers were very consistent with Lumintop’s advertised brightness

Brightness was very similar with both Alkaline and NIMH

the mode spacing falls right in line with other popular AAA lights.

The worm is a weak performer with Alkaline batteries, but is fantastic with NIMH

The worm really stands its ground with the competition. It kept up with the Thrunite Ti5 very well! Shows good current regulation and holds a nice bright beam right up to the very end.

Medium mode showed similar results. NIMH is the way to go with this light.

So as you can see the Lumintop worm performs just as good or better than the competition, and manages to do this for a $15 price. This light has definitely made it into the hall of fame and will be one of the lights I use as a standard to compare for AAA lights in the future.

Final Summary:

At $15 this light is a steal! Everything about the light is good. The fit and finish are good, construction is good, performance is good. I definitely have a strong preference to a tail switch AAA over a twist head design, but that is just a preference. I think the multiple color options are refreshing and it draws less attention in my pocket. I typically carry 1-AAA lights in my shirt pocket and blue is definitely noticed alot less than black. The user interface is simple and this light doesn’t have any strobe or emergency modes that you have to worry about. The mode sequence is M-L-H and repeats.

Overall I think this is a great light, and is going to be a light that I use to benchmark AAA lights in the future due to its strong performance in the runtime testing.

Thanks for the review!

While the Worm is a unique looking light, my LuminTop collection is restricted to the Tool series thus far. I have the Aluminum Tool now and the Cu and Ti Tool incoming

Great brand. And I love that bunny logo!

Cool review
Nice light!

Those twisties feel a bit magical to me, cell is in contact all the time yet the smallest rotation makes them go on and off (I know it probably is pretty simple yet it still feel magical without a switch/button)

I’m a tail switch guy. Nothing more satisfying than a nice AAA light with a strong reverse tail switch.

The Lumintop Worm I bought recently on Amazon.com emits a good amount of light, with a slightly cool tint and a good mix of throw and flood for indoor use. I am pleased with that aspect of the Worm's performance.

However, there are two problems with my light which make it difficult to use:

(1) The head requires too much torque to twist so one hand operation is uncomfortable.

(2) The Worm developed gritty threads after just a few days use and the blue paint on the threads began to wear off.

An application of Nyogen lube helped, but not enough to make using the light fun to use. I will probably give it away to a local non-flashaholic.

parnaas… (1) I have exactly same issues with my copper worm.

It is much smaller than I expected.

That’s what she said

Thanks, those are KO negative points for me. I like the look but hate those twist lights

Good review. I have the Stainless Worm Nichia purchased from Amazon. (Wish it had a different name.) I am not experiencing the thread problems reported herein. Light has good heft, which I like. Nice light, no complaints at all.

I bought the Copper Worm w Nichia just so I could put use the donor head as a Nichia “Drop In” on a couple of other lights whose bodies and reversible clip I prefer, and that do not offer a Factory Nichia option

WormAtac

NiteWorm

The worm body does not light the Maratac Head, nor the Thrunite TiXmas head, because the worm has shorter threads. I dont mind, because I really like the Worm Head w Nichia.

Note that because the threads on the Worm head are also shorter, there is some headgap visible with the Maratac body. The Worm only has 2.5 full turns before it comes off, while the Maratac has 5 Full turns. On the Maratac the Worm head operates really easily. On the Thrunite its a bit more snug, but with lube and a worn Oring it gets really nice for my one hand needs.

Got myself a worm recently to be a keychain light and am quite happy so far. I got the electroless nickel finish and it is really nice. Threads feel good.

I did swap the emitter with a 3000K 80+ CRI XP-G3, the stock reflector anf driver work great with this emitter! Very pleasing tint and beam.

I also run on a 10440 using the stock driver. No problems at all so far, mode spacing is still good, although all modes are brighter than with AAA. Seems to handle the heat well too.

Just a note, the light engine in the head is basically identical to that of the tool, with the only difference being a shorter pill. They really went all out to make it as small as possible.

Now that it’s been almost a year I can say I still carry this light often. Really good light to carry discreetly in a shirt pocket.

One of the only pocket clips I can reliable use on a shirt.

I have the brass Worm with the Nichia emitter and like it a lot. But it is third in line behind my copper maratac with Nichia and thrunite ti3, which has the super handy (for me) firefly mode. I see using the Worm more again in the fall when the days get shorter.
