Pistol Light: Review compaign

As far as I know, the founders of UltraTac used to work with Olight and Lumintop. I think they are well experienced in flashlight filed, and trustworthy, though the cooperative representative might have made some mistake in advertising(Buying reviews).
The K18 is a nice keychain AAA light with side e-switch and a clip,IMO.

They have asked me the favor to do review for the X5 pistol light, sadly guns are illegal in China.
So I post it here.

If you’re interested in doing an honest, unbiased review, pls email your profile to “sales(@)UltraTac.com”.
P.S: I think the basic requirement to do this review is having a pistol. Review with video is preferred.

Disclaimer: I was not paid, just want to discover more good products for the community.

I’m in! I have been looking for a good weapon light.

Email sent, thanks for this opportunity Rey!

I’m from Texas, of course I have “a” pistol!

I have a number of handguns with mounting rails, from very compact, all the way up to full-size/high-capacity. I could include pics showing the fit on the different sizes.

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be willing to do a video review, as I personally prefer a good old fashioned review with pictures and written words.
I wouldn’t be able to do a long-term recoil-sensitivity test either…

Nice looking light, but I’d prefer something that would run on something other than AAA-sized cells.

That flashlight style push button doesn’t look too promising.

What makes that a pistol light, is it potted?
Or is that what the review is for?
Not interested in doing a review, just curious and might be in on a group buy or good price

I’ll give it a try (email sent). I’d like to see how it works on the old M9 and then we’ll hook it up on my son’s air soft guns. I think AAA is perfect for that type of use. Video would be at the discretion of the range operator, ditto for the air soft.

I would like to be in on this… shoot every weekend and could mount on rifle or pistol and shoot at any time of the night!

Indeed, they have to rework the design asap, its extremely inconvenient…tried 2 simmilar designed pisol lights on my Glock p19 and found them practicaly useless

I have been looking for a cheaper alternative to the SureFire XC1 (with same form factor) and this looks promising. However, the push button is a non-starter so I hope they redesign that. I can’t really recommend the current product so I’ll pass on doing a review for now.

You guys should look at the ultratac X3

Different form factor  There’s plenty of good lower-cost options in the larger form factor required for CR123A (including Olight that just this week launched a new version of their Valkyrie pistol light).

The UltraTec X5 however is the only promising light that has the same/similar form factor as the SureFire XC1.

What are all these good low cost options? The olight is pricey at $100

Compared to SureFire weapon lights  Lower-cost, but not low-cost.

I think I had seen a BG code that brought the (old) Olight Valkyrie down to around $70. Actually, might have been a sale from their US warehouse and not a code.

This is the new Valkyrie introduced this week (pre-order):

I think it has the same MSRP as the old one so hopefully it will also be available for around $70 at some point.

200 lumen(ultratac) is not very bright, and this doesnt look like it supports a 10440 cell, where the larger cr123 lights support a 16340 for 500 lumen. Personally, I’d like a brighter light for more positive & quicker target id

I guess I don’t understand the issue with the X3. It solves the switch problem the X5 appears to have that everyone was commenting on, which is why I mentioned it.

200 lumens might be a tad low, but I find the 500 lumens on my SureFire X300 Ultra to be too bright for in-door home defense (as the light bounces off walls and blinds you).

I agree. X3 is also brighter with a 16340.
