Alexis Korner & Steve Marriott – One Scotch, one Bourbon, one beer

Saw Alexis Korner back somewhere around 1970. I was an acid-fueled youngster then and went to concerts every week. Cheap then. $5 would get you a good seat. Saw quite a few great performers that I couldn’t yet appreciate. Korner, J.J. Kale, Long John Baldry, Boz Scaggs, etc. They kinda bored me. Not the acid rock I was looking for. Sure wish I could do it over again.

I was speaking in retrospect—shit that happened over 40 years ago. I was speaking to some degree in regret about having missed the elemental qualities of great performers because of my youth and the drug influences. I think I made that kinda clear. But since my behavior was “technically bad” , I’m tainted for life, huh? Thanks for sitting in the judgement seat. I’m sure you’ve lived your life as pure as the driven snow, right?

My guess it’s just the newest incarnation of a recently banned troll.

Luckily it is a very rare occurrence on BLF. This is one of the best communities you’ll find.

Well in the old and good days people blew their brain out with loud rock and roll garnished with every drug they can get their hands on.

People do the same today with pictures of cupcakes on their phones,,,, so i ask you who is stupid.

Truly a voice of generation. Thank you Greg i Miss you …

This song was and remains one of my favourite songs of all time and is lyrically so profoundly powerful and, if you listen to the words, timelessly relevant to us as a misguided species.

Hope no need to clarify who he is …
One of the Greatest in Rock – Greg Lake.

Unfortunately, more and more often we (my generation) say RIP, when mention some of our favorite performers.

Bullseye! Thumbs Up Thanks!

Never forget Ramones with the new style and sound that they gave us from the late 70s. And all their career …
And only Debbie Harry stayed close to Joey, as far as I remember.

When Greg Lake was with King Crimson, Carl Palmer was with the Crazy World of Arthur Brown and Atomic Rooster Keith Emerson was with The Nice. Later the three joined to become Emerson, Lake and Palmer.
Here is my favorite song by The Nice. Great instrumentals with Keith Emerson on organ.

Not the best version of this song but the only one with live video. This was after Frampton left.

Couldn’t resist one more. Here is how I prefer to remember Keith Emerson, a smokin version of America from the Letterman show circa 1986.

The guitar playing in that ’73 live version of Hocus Pocus was incredible. It’s quite a bit faster than the album version and a shame they didn’t have him shredding on the radio edit.
My wife and I like to look through youtube for cover versions of classic songs, sometimes there are some decent versions but usually not.
We could never find a decent cover of Frankenstein by the Edgar Winter Group so here’s a fun live version by them.

Grand Funk Railroad – Inside Looking Out, 1969

Thanks for the memories Bonham! G.F. was one of my all time favorites. Couldn’t get enough of them when I was discharged from the Marine Corps in 1970. Almost went deaf blasting their music through my headphones back then. Needed to listen to them with the volume at “11”. Wink They were the #1 live act in the world for a time selling out huge venues in minutes.

Farner was not the greatest guitarist in the world but so raw and knew what to do with the talent he had. Same with his voice. Never forget sometimes after a long, long finishing sustained note on his harmonica, he would rear back and fling it into the crowd. Wish I could have caught one!

One of the greatest “power trios”, (as they called them at the time), ever. I think Farner is the only surviving member of the band now.

I just wanted to add something, but I see someone cares for the grass in the topic to be trimmed. Controversial decision …

The group is called “The Stumble”

That YouTube video was posted 3 years ago and since then it has only been viewed 1169 times.
