That quality issue affects other light of imalent?

Certainly not all, from my limited experience of owning 5, as I said my imalent ddt40 is a great light, I’ve got probably 150 lights from various manufacturers and that is one of my most used lights, I’ve bashed it, dropped it used it underground, had it caked in mud and water and it’s carried on working perfectly, would have no hesitation in recommending it, even the holster was very well made.
The DN11 was ok quality wise, but the touch button could have been better as it’s very hit and miss, especially with gloves on.
The 3 imalent hr20 though, I was really disappointed with, as hIKARInoob said, they had problems bad wiring, bits falling of etc etc, they didn’t even get USB correctly printed, and for me the worst bit was they were ment to be ipx8 rated, mine were no more waterproof than the titanic was unsinkable.
What’s the point of a headtorch that you can’t use outside in the rain.
It probably won’t put me off buying more imalent stuff, – I’m looking at getting the dt70 – but I’ll be sure to wait until there are a good few reviews on here before I buy in future

I really want to see how dt35 performs, the dt70 seems great, but I think that not so useful because the small amount of mass and cooling fins Sad

Curious about the lumen output on turbo; on the pictures the output doesn´t seem in the 16000 lumen range!! Crying

A german reviewer rated it at 13000 lumens. Not bad at all. I just wish they would stop overrating their lumens

There is a new video on the DT70 from WeAllJuggleKnives. It seems to be hard to find at the moment. It was a good review, but did not get too technical. IDK, maybe Imalent told him to not publish it yet, so he took it down? I’ll post a link if I can find it again.

Lumen is quite difficult to measure, unlike lux.

It seems we’ve had our first malfunctioning DN70 light.
https://youtu.be/CAE5pm-EGmc

Maybe someone here can give him some ideas to try and fix the issue.

I hope it’s a simple fix and not a defect, because I want to buy one. Smile

Yeah I just saw this one too. I’m afraid I have to avoid all these new Imalent lights; there are too many negatives already…

I was reading a translated forum thread on a German site (DN70 Passaround) and they say there is a first batch which may have some problems. First batch do not have loud click sound on the switch. It may also only produce 3000 to 3200 lumen on turbo. They measured 9.5 amp draw. Stepdown occurred at 2 min 30 secs.

The second batch has loud click sound on switch, plus reprogrammed firmware. These are getting 3800 to 4000 lumen on turbo. These measure 11.5 amp. Stepdown occurred at 1 min 45 secs.

I’ll try and update this thread as I find out more info.

Thanks for the update Jason Wink
Even if it’s “only” 3000 to 3200 lumens, that’s actually quite respectable. I believe the competition produces a bit less than 3000 lumens; the Klarus producing only about 2100 lumens. I’ve also read somewhere than one of these lights showed “Imalet” on the display when inserting battery instead of “Imalent”… I hope there are no side effects with the second and upcoming batches.

I recently received the Imalent DT70, three of the four LED’s work, one is dead. I had it tested in a well known calibrated sphere and on Turbo was putting 9,000 lumens out the front, this is with only 3 of 4 LED’s.. unfortunately this defective light has been very frustrating and a lesson learned. No one will repair this light, not even some of the most recognizable modders…Return shipping ranges from $65.00 USD up to $175.00 USD !!! I would not recommend purchasing any Imalent light. They do a very good job of giving you the run around in hopes your PayPal escalating deadline quietly slides by…
I have pictures in the Dealers category.

Very upset!

Did you contact the store you bought it from about it being defective? Sometimes they will fix the problem. Refund or replacement. Nevermind, I see your in talks with Banggood.

Or did you contact imalent for warranty work?

Your situation is what I worry about from other Chinese only companies that do not sell replacement parts for their lights. With companies like Eagle Eye and Convoy I can buy parts easily and fix it myself. Having to ship a light back to China, on the other hand, can be quite expensive.

Did you explain your problems dealing with Imalent in a thread? I’d like to learn more about how they treat their customers.

So far I’ve heard people say that both Klarus and Olight ignore warranty claims. Are there any companies that take care of their customers?

If all the LED’s are in parallel then it would have to simply be a lose solder going to one of the 4 LEDs. I would think it would be not too complicated of a fix. Getting to the LED’s may be a different story. Your neighbor over there likely not looking for a fresh can of worms to open. That’s too bad if you’re left little recourse for amending the situation quickly. I know that crap’s frustrating. I just put in an order this morning too. I’ll see how those dice roll.

Thanks for posting these issues.

I recently ordered the DN70 so these videos aren’t sitting well with me at all! Facepalm

However, GB did take an extra 10 days to start shipping it so maybe they got in some newly revised stock that addressed these issues? dunno.

I’ll post my impressions and any problems encountered when I’ve had the chance to play with the light.

yeah, i had high hopes when they came out also
todds not the only one that ive heard of having issues
there have been several others
bad thing is how they are handling it
only takes 3 or 4 people with their dander ruffed up these days on the innerwebs, and a company could loose multi thousands of dollars
seems they would learn that ………

Having a lot of fun with my DT70, it’s definitely 15,000+ Lumens on turn on but ANSI would struggle to get that unless they measured it in Greenland. Here’s how it compares with my other small lumen monsters:

Seriously impressive performance. Unbelievable how it humiliates the Thrunite… Also nice to see the more balanced beam profile with dedomed emitters… Thanks a lot for the video. Smile

The Thrunite TN36UT NW’s output is no where near the claimed specs of the CW version.

2400ish lumen DQG hits 271 lux and the TN36UT on it’s 2500 lumen mode hits 205 lux. Fully charged hq cells and different bounce locations yield the same results.

The DT70 just kicks arse on all its modes, but I do believe they tested it in a cold environment to get high ANSI figures as it gets hot and loses efficiency fast. 1600 lux to 1450 lux in 30 seconds in my 15c kitchen. Be interesting to do the same test with the X45 and X7vn.
