Sold: Convoy C8 silver like new, Mini Maglite silver

Hello,

I recently bought this silver Convoy C8 from Simon, mainly to test the XP-L HI, which is new to me. The build quality is top notch and the throw is really good for such a pocketable light.

I had a little trouble to program the driver. It has double the frequency as intended, as you can read here: New Convoy C8

But as long as you do not use blink modes, it is okay. It is currently set to mode #5. I also replaced the weak plastic washer in the tailcap by a much sturdier one. The emitter is U6 3A, emitting color is 5000K-5200K.

The reason I want to sell it is that the throw is actually too much for me. I have more or less only close to mid range applications. The light has not even seen more than 5 minutes runtime, it is like new. The lanyard that came with it is also included, of course. The light is currently not available from Simon due to the Chinese New Year holiday.

Asking 20 USD shipped worldwide. Tracking would be 3 USD on top. Paypal only, please. Please post “I’ll take it” in this post, details per PM then.

I also have a silver Mini Maglite (non LED) that I once bought for a mod that I will not pursue further. It is in a very good condition, although not brand new. The color match to the C8 is pretty good. I would include it in the package for 10 USD extra, or 14 USD shipped separately.

Thanks for looking!

I`ll take both.

I suggest you keep in mind the potential of a C8 with an OP reflector, then. I have one and it’s fantastic for those ranges, as well as still having good throw potential.

That was quick  . I was searching for a maglite aa …

Really quick indeed!

Thanks kiriba-ru, I’ll answer your PM in a second.

I tried the XP-L HI with an OP reflector that I also got from Simon. It smoothed the beam, but it was not a flooder though

Of course it wouldn’t be with a naturally dedomed emitter! lol

Mine has a still domed XM-L2, and while it’s not as throwy as I’ve seen others, I do concede that it has a bit much spot.

If you insist on mid-range, then the S2 won’t cut it. Maybe an M1 if Simon still makes them?

Flashlights are on their way!

I will try the OP reflector with my XM-L bike light tonight, maybe this would do the trick.

Shouldn’t make a difference to use a XP-L2 or a XP-L, right? I consider to buy another host and build with another driver then.

Not sure about the XP-L2 (does Simon even use it?), but the XM-L2 when domed has way less throw than the XP-L HI, and even less so when backed by a textured reflector.
