Nitecore EA41 2015 Ballooning Buttons

I have the Nitecore EA41 2015 model and i am noticing the buttons starting to balloon. Is that common with this model?

I purchased it in may of 2016 if it makes any difference. I know that it was common in earlier models but surprised that its happening to me.

Could very warm weather be the cause?

Hey mate it seem common. Not the first thread on BLF about it. I own one my self and have not had the issue but it doesn’t have to much use on it.

Like literally inflating from pressure difference?…. or just getting a little puffy/lose from use and age? The latter is OK… 2015 was quite a while ago, in flashlight technology years.

I have one the only time my button balloned up was when a imedion cell vented inside the light on low. It went back in place and never a problem since

@kramer5150 inflating from pressure difference i would say. I actually opened it up and took out the eneloops and it deflated. Could it have been the batteries? Or the Sydney weather? Which has been over 30 degrees Celsius for some time.

I have a heavily used early EA41 and haven’t had any problems.
I think that the ballooning problems were limited to the previous model (EA4).

The EA4 had the two-stage camera shutter switch - no switch cover to balloon. There was a problem some had with early EA41s. Nitecore made a change in the switch cover material, and if I remember correctly, would send a new version of the cover to anyone who asked.

Where is your light normally stored? 30C out in the open isn’t all that hot, but if it was in an enclosed area exposed to sunlight, it would have probably gotten to the temp where air pressure would cause ballooning.

Over 30. Like some days 39 degrees lol. Mine is still okay so it’s not the weather. Internal heat maybe.

Probably just the air pressure in your area lowered a bit, and since the light is sealed the buttons puffed up.
Nothing bad.

There are several reports about the EA4 switch boot problems, here’s two examples:
