Kaidomain have gone mad

Their new site sucks.   It looks fine but the search does not work in Firefox and only works occasionally in IE.

Worst of all their prices have gome haywire.   The KD C8 is down to $17 but the Trustfire R5-A3 which was $16 last week is now $24 yes $24 !!!   There is a significant hike in quite a few other prices too, about 12%. Frown

EDIT - Search seems most reliable in Opera.

For order history and the old search function you can access the old website through http://old.kaidomain.com/ ...

I think it is just meant as a backup, I don't think that you can still order from that site. Even the product ID's seem to have changed... what a mess.

Crazy.  Trustfire R5-A3 still shows as $16 on the old site and will let you add to cart but not pay.   New site, same light $24.    Personally I don't like paying $8 for the privilege of using a new site that doesn't work properly in Firefox......Yell

I have an older computer/operating system and that is an issue for some sites but KD has always been a tough site for my computer. I've ordered twice there I think (years ago) and I haven't gone back just because it was slow and usually ended up with my computer crashing.

I placed one order which I eventually received but it never showed up in the order system. I emailed them and they essentially said don't worry about it, that's somewhat normal and your order will arrive...and it did but I've stayed away since then.

If they are now worse and their prices have gone up I will definitely not be tempted to go back.

It worked fine on Google Chrome, I just ordered 4 of the KD C8 XML's. Hopefully the $16.99 is not a misprint.

DX is the only site that has even half way decent search, useful pictures and descriptions.  If it weren't for the folks on this forum, I would not take the chance of purchasing at KD.  Web sites, how hard can they be?

I NEVER would have purchased from a place like KD if not for the testimonies and feedback from this site. It's amazing how comfortable you get once you get sucked into the world of flashlights Silly

Hope you didn't take them all! I would love one at that price but I have a feeler out. You know, if it's too good to be true......   WHY would they just discount them by $8 when some said the other prices were going UP?  I hope it's legit.

U serious? Opera is the only one I use. Have that in tabletop, laptop and every cell phone in the family. Wouldn't take anything else.

To subject; I just had to order that C8 for the crazy price. Oldbob and some others have waved the C8 flag for some time now and as I don't have any C8 format light, I figured it's time to jump to that bandwagon. And if I get a lemon, the emitter by itself is worth of a tenner or so, so no big loss.

+1 on Opera. It's the one I regularly use. I sometimes use Firefox for a couple of sites I found greasemonkey and scripts indispensable. Other than that Opera exclusively. To each his own I guess.

Alright I'm going to get that C8 too.  =)

Perhaps I should clarify why I hate Opera.

In the main it is because I use a very large number of FF extensions, several that I find totally indispensable.   I don't even upg to the next FF each time until most of the extensions have also been upg'd to work with it.   So whenever I use Opera I find it aggravating that I effectively have to do so very much by longer routes.

I guess if I were new to browsers and did not use such a range of extensions I might feel differently.

Just so there's no confusion for noobs.  The headings to the above two links are the wrong way around.   Just go by the url's.

The prices on that flashlight are the same for me on both sites.

I like the new layout of the new KD. I was in publishing for 20 years. However, seems they hav relented and adopted a look and feel more like DX.

They are NOW.  They were not twenty minutes ago.    I think someone from KD is monitoring this thread.   Lets try a test.

Why is the price of the Trustfire R5-A3 almost $9 different between the two sites?   Can you correct it, please.

On the new site it is $24.20

On the old it was $15.66

DealExtreme price, for reference, is $14.90

EDIT - I've now emailed KD Customer Support a link to this page.

KD C8 XM-L is on front page banner and still $16.99

Maybe it isn't by accident and they really sell those for that price. Ordered one, just to test them.. Wink

The search engine works with google chrome but you have to hit the "enter" key after typing the text instead of using the "go" button that doesn't work.

Neither work with Firefox

"Ooops...., an error occurred while processing your request. Please contact us for any assistance."

Well, that's refreshing. Undecided

They even link to the C8 from their homepage now so I assume they didn't screw up the price on the C8.

Neither work with Firefox

SRWare Iron (basically Chrome w/o Googlestuff) , same thing, have to hit enter.

Otherwise first page links to C8 etc work just fine.

Chrome, Opera, IE etc., are of no interest to me.   I use so many FF extensions that I'm not up for changing.  I find it v.annoying that to use KD's new site I now have to use a portable version of Opera.

I am not pleased and you can bet that with FF's huge user base I am far from alone.   Unless KD sort it they will lose a hell of a lot of business.

+1. I've been a FF user since back when it was called Phoenix and it's the perfect browser for me. If it's a really important website, I may pull up a copy of IE in a sandbox (there's even a FF extension for that :D) but I am not installing another browser for any website.

This is sort of like opening a distillery in Utah. Sure, you can do it but it's probably not a smart move. Beta testing FTW. Wink

Ordered the C-8, went to my account for the order summary, and the status is back-ordered. So who knows when.

On the old Kaidomain page that was their "term" for "ordered at the supplier".
